Recap:
"Hey Ashley what happened?" I asked.
"I'd thought I'd be the first to tell you before you knew. Matt called me last night." She said and wiped her eyes.
"And? What did he say?"
"He-" She began but stopped herself. She stuttered for a bit and looked at me straight in the eyes before saying,
"... He's telling everyone you gave him an STD."

He's telling everyone you gave him an STD
He's telling everyone you gave him an STD
He's telling everyone you gave him an STD
You know the expression 'A deer caught in headlights'? That's exactly how I felt. I couldn't speak. My heart felt frozen inside me, yet it was beating a mile a minute. My breath felt like it was caught in my chest, almost as if I was suffocating from the words that were replaying in it. He's telling everyone you gave him an STD. My mind was trapped inside those words. They seemed to envelope every thought. Short, little stutters came from my mouth but that's all I could manage. I believed every word I was hearing, but I wished with all my soul it wasn't true. This person, who I thought was so real and true, cheated and lied to me and about me. My first time ever was with Matt, so how could I give him an STD? I prayed to God that no one would believe him. If he really was going to tell everyone or not, or if he already has, he still wouldn't win. I wouldn't let him win. Or at least, I would try.
Still in shock, I grabbed my bag that I had dropped at my feet and made my way down the bleachers without saying a word to Ashley and Adam; they didn't even bother running after me. No, I wasn't going to go find Matt to yell and rant at him about this. I was going to class like I was going to before Adam caught me. Hopefully I wasn't too late.
I took my seat at my normal desk, trying to not look nervous or worried, and waited for the teacher to stand up from his desk and start speaking. Looking around the room, I noticed everyone was staring at me again. Almost like they wanted to murder me. Geez, you're late for class once and this is what you get? I mean, really? You wouldn't want someone to stare at you like you just admitted to being a terrorist or something just because you're late to class.
"Ms. Hatchet. You are late. You better have a good reason." My teacher, Mr. Darrel, said warningly.
"I can think of a few reasons." I heard a voice from behind me. I looked back at the person and cringed when I saw who it was. Matt.
Everyone snickered at his words. Why were they laughing? He didn't say anything funny. Or did he? I looked at everyone, lost and confused.
"Never mind. Just don't be late again." The teacher said sternly.
I looked back at Matt with a confused look and he smiled like nothing ever happened. My brain was scrambled with questions when he gave me a wink. His attitude was sarcastic, and it was all directed towards me. Why is he doing this?
Then it hit me. They weren't staring at me because of my clothes, or because I was late, or any of that.
He's telling everyone you gave him an STD
Those dreaded words were on a loop in my mind and I couldn't get them out. I couldn't seem to shake her voice out of my head.
Shooting my eyes back at Matt, I stared at him with a look that said 'You're unbelievable'. His plastered smirk remained as he folded his arms and rested them on the desk.. He raised his dark brown eyebrows at me in reply, making his forehead wrinkle, and gave me a small wave with his fingers. Then he motioned me to face the teacher which made me burn with anger inside. He couldn't control me, but he was right. I should be facing the teacher before I get in trouble.
