Chapter 6: Embrace

Akko's PoV:
I woke up slowly and looked around, trying to figure out where I was. This looks like...the nurse's office? What am I doing here? What had happened? Lots of questions were running through my mind but I ignored them for now. I couldn't really quite remember. I tried to sit up but then was met with a headache. Not a major one, but it was still quite annoying to deal with it. I felt a light pressure near the right side of my bed. I looked and saw Diana slowly waking up.

Akko: D-diana, what am I doing here? What happe-

Diana: Akko!

Akko was interrupted by Diana where she quickly went in for a hug, which made Akko fell back on the bed.

Diana: I'm so glad you're alright! I was so worried about you!

A few tear drops rolled down Diana's cheeks while hugging the still confused Akko.

Akko: D-diana?

Diana: Didn't you remember what happened yesterday?

Akko tried hard to recall on yesterday's incident; and, after a while, finally remembered what had happened. The memory of yesterday was clear as day. Akko sighed, holding her head with her right hand.

Akko: I-i remember now. Ugh, what was I doing? Does anyone else know? I'm sorry for making you worry, Diana.

Diana: It's alright, Akko. I'm just glad you're alright. And, for the record, only the nurse, Headmistress Holbrooke and...well, the both of us knows about this.

Akko: Oh, I see. By the way, why are you here? Shouldn't you be back at your room? It is late after all and we're in school after curfew.

Diana: Oh, well, I got special permission from Headmistress Holbrooke and the nurse that I insisted to stay with you. Until morning, that is...

Akko immediately blushed.

Akko: Oh, y-you didn't have to, you know...

Diana: No, I did it out of my own volition. I was...worried about you, Akko...

Akko: I'm sorry, Diana. I just...really wanted to be able to make you proud of me.

Silenced filled the room; however, it was a comfortable silence. Diana cushioned her head with her hands on Akko's legs. Akko didn't mind that, of course. Diana looked at Akko for a while. Then, out of nowhere, Diana kissed Akko's slightly bruised knee, which cause Akko's cheeks to redden.

Akko: D-diana, w-what are you...

Diana: Akko...

Both of them looked at each other. Akko was mesmerized by Diana's beauty, enhanced further by the soft moonlight that shines on her face, especially her eyes, sparkling like diamonds in the sky.

Diana: You know...it's okay to practice, but please be more careful from now on. I know you're doing your best to improve yourself and I also believe that you will one day. Truth be told, I already am proud of you. I love how focused and dedicated you are on doing something. You really are incredible, you know? I really admire that about you.

Akko looked at Diana with a surprised face. "What? She...admires me?" These thoughts made warm blood rush towards her face. Akko has never been told that she was admirable, which made her really happy; especially since it came from Diana. At that moment, Akko knew perfectly that she has fallen in love with her. Their eyes were locked onto each other for quite a while. Diana, finally realizing what she had said, quickly got up from Akko's legs. Steams were practically coming off from her head, with a tint of red on her cheeks.

Diana: U-uh, m-my apologies. T-that was kind of invasive. Forget everything that I just said...

Akko: Diana!

Diana turned to look at Akko, surprised at her sudden raise of voice.

Akko: I don't mind, really. Plus, I was...really happy when you said that. It really means a lot to me, especially coming from you. Thanks, Diana. I'm glad you're here with me.

Akko said it while glancing to the side. Upon hearing that, Diana's lips curled into a sweet smile. They both looked at each other, giggled and continued to talk about random things, mostly about their studies and magic.

Akko: H-Hey, I don't blow stuff up..

Diana: Oh really? Let's see...I recalled that one time where you were practicing magic at the courtyard, then that one time in cla-

Akko: Alright, alright, I get it. You don't need to remind me.

Diana's PoV:
Akko crossed her arms while pouting, to which made me giggle at her cute reactions. Not that she isn't cute before, but seeing her like this after teasing her just makes her a lot cuter. I'm...quite confident that I'm in love with this lively girl.

Diana: I know, Akko. I was just teasing you.

Akko: .......

Akko gave her the silent treatment.

Diana: Oh, come on, Akko. You know that I was just kidding.

Akko was still silent. Diana was getting a bit worried that she might have hurt her feelings. But alas, Akko's silent treatment was only for a little while before she starts laughing.

Akko: Oh, I know, Diana. I could never be mad at you, you know...

Akko smirked and winked at the now flustered Diana.

Diana: Oh, r-right...

Diana looked away to avoid Akko seeing her pink tinted cheeks. Akko giggled at the sight. After that, Akko yawned and stretched her arms.

Diana: Are you getting sleepy?

Akko: Yeah, I think so. But, if you want to talk for a bit more, I don't really mind. We don't have any classes or anything to do for tomorrow...well, for me at least.

Diana: I think you should get some rest. You need it in order to get well soon. I wouldn't want you to get sick anyways.

Akko: Alright then. Goodnight, Diana. Sweet dreams. Make sure you get some rest too.

Diana: I will, Akko.

And just like that, Akko instantly fell asleep.

Diana: My, my, that was fast.

Diana giggled and continued to watch her sleep. "Oh, my...I've really fallen for her, haven't I?" Diana thought to herself. Diana subconciously reached for Akko's hand and held it.

Diana: Hurry and get well soon, Akko.

Diana said that quietly with a smile on her face. Later, Diana laid her head on her arms while still holding Akko's hand, closed her eyes and fell asleep, hoping that Akko would make a full recovery.
