Chapter 14: Trust In Me

Diana's PoV:
Diana: Wait, you're name wasn't on the list?

Akko: Yeah, it was kinda weird that everyone else's name was on it except for mine.

Diana: Well, did you do anything that may have caused this?

Akko: Come on, Di. You know I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize my chances of passing the exams. I worked so hard for this.

Diana: Well, whatever the case may be, we'll figure it out together. For now, let's go meet Principal Holbrooke.

Akko: Alright, fine...

Diana patted Akko's head and the two of them headed towards the principal's office. Upon arriving in front of the door, Diana knocked three times before entering, with Akko following just behind her.

Diana: You wanted to see us, Principal Holbrooke?

Holbrooke: Hmm? Ah, yes. Diana and Atsuko. Please, have a seat.

Diana and Akko sat in the chairs that were already placed for them. Akko looked around anxiously whereas Diana was as calm as ever, sitting quietly while both of them waited for the principal to begin.

Holbrooke: First of all, let me congratulate the both of you for finishing the exams. I have no doubt that you two did your best.

Akko & Diana: Thank you, Principal Holbrooke.

Principal Holbrooke gave them a quick smile before becoming serious.

Holbrooke: Now, the reason why I called you both in is because of Akko.

Akko: Huh? Me?

Holbrooke: Akko, you might have noticed that your name wasn't on the list on the notice board. Is that correct?

Akko: Y-yes. Wait, you mean that my name wasn't on it on purpose?

Holbrooke: It would seem so. I'll just get straight to the point. Your performance in the exams are quite marvelous, ranking much higher than your previous performances.

Akko: R-really? Then wh-

Holbrooke: That said...

Principal Holbrooke raised her hand, signalling Akko to stop talking, to which Akko did. After a while, she continued to speak with a serious face.

Holbrooke: ...the other teachers aren't convinced with your results.

Diana: What are you saying, miss?

Holbrooke: I'm saying that Akko might have cheated in the exams.

Akko and Diana: What?!

Akko and Diana were both surprised and shocked at the sudden bombshell dropped.

Akko: That's insane! I may have done stupid things here, but I would never cheat!

Diana: A-Akko, calm down...

Holbrooke: Now, now. I'm not quite finished yet. Please sit down and take it easy, Miss Kagari.

Diana helped Akko to calm herself, to which Akko finally relaxed and sat down.

Holbrooke: Like I said, the teachers were not quite convinced with your current performance due to your previous performances. However, I was told that Miss Cavendish here has helped you in various ways in preparation for the exams. Is that correct?

Diana: Yes, miss. I did lent a hand in her studies. And if you and the others want proof, then you may ask the librarian and Professor Finnelan on what we were doing in the library as they both saw us. I also serve as witness during the exams that Akko did in fact not cheat. I trust Atsuko Kagari to be responsible with her actions and I expect the others to be so too.
