Chapter 7: Good Company

Akko's PoV:
I woke up to the sound of the nurse waking me up, gently calling out my name. My eyelids slowly fluttered open while stretching my still tired body. Well, I tried to but there was someone...or something....holding my hand. I looked at my hand to see that it was being held by Diana who was sound asleep. It took a while for the situation to be completely processed in my head before becoming flustered. I tried to gently get her to release my hands but she had it gripped tight. I wanted to wake up her up but she looked so comfortable that I didn't dare to wake her up. Plus, she looked really cute sleeping like that. A few strands of hair covered her pretty face. I've actually had a dream where I could hold her hand like this while going on a date; having fun together without a care in the world. I smiled about how that would be fun and exciting if it were true, however, I simply kept those thoughts in my mind. The nurse gave me breakfast, which also includes Diana's portion.

Nurse: Good morning, Miss Kagari. How are you feeling today?

Akko: Good morning, too. I'm feeling a lot better already.

Nurse: That's good to know. I'm glad Miss Cavendish was here to keep you company.

Akko: Y-yeah, me too...

Akko's cheeks redden at the statement.

At that moment, Diana began to slowly wake up. She attempted to rub her eyes but quickly realized there was a light pressure on her right hand.

Akko: M-morning, Diana...

Diana: Hm? Oh, good morning, Akko. How are you today? Are you feeling okay? Did you get enough rest?

Akko: Yeah, I sure did, Diana. Thanks for asking. B-by the way, ermm...

Akko motioned towards her hand with her head. Diana glanced at the direction that Akko mentioned, now seeing that she was holding Akko's hand. Feeling completely flustered, she removed her hand and looked away.

Diana: I-i'm sorry, Akko. I hope I didn't make you u-uncomfortable.

Akko: N-no, of course not. If anything, it made me feel...happy.

Both of them looked away, refusing to look at each other; both looking extremely flushed. The nurse just giggled at the cute situation.

Nurse: Oh my, you two are adorable together.

Diana: Huh??

Akko: W-wha....w-we don't...

The nurse simply giggled at the even more flustered Akko and Diana.

Nurse: Well, enough of teasing from me. Make sure to eat your breakfast, both of you. And Miss Kagari, you may be discharged after breakfast.

Akko: Really? Thank you so much!

Diana: That's wonderful news!

Nurse: Make sure to be more careful in the future from now on. Just leave them here after you're done eating. I'll pick em up later. Goodbye, you two...

After that, the nurse exited the room, leaving both Akko and Diana alone. After a moment's hesitation, they dig in.

Akko: Shoo, whod shud we oo uday?

Diana: Akko, I know you're happy about it but do chew and swallow your food first. Plus, I didn't even understand what you said.

Akko: Oh, wight.

Akko quickly chewed and gulped down her food. Diana just smiled at Akko's silly behaviours.

Akko: I was asking; what should we do today? Do you have any plans for today?
