Chapter 24: Misunderstand & Passions

Diana's PoV:

Ghost: Are you really gonna forget about me? Just like that?

Diana whirled around with a gasp...to find a ghostly form hovering behind her. Its eerie aura emanates from itself, causing Diana to stay rooted to the ground. Her breathing is unsteady and her heartbeat is fast.

Diana: W-Who are you? What do you want from me?!

Diana tried to move but was unable to due to her arms and legs being chained by black ectoplasm. The ghostly form inched closer towards her, ignoring Diana's futile attempts of escaping.

Ghost: Who I am is none of your concern. All I'm here to say is this: WATCH YOUR BACK.

Diana: W-What do you mean by that?

The form advances on her, hovering unnaturally, its feet dragging on the black void around it. Diana managed to somehow escape the grasp of the ectoplasm, but staggered back, slipping in a puddle of water. No, not a puddle, Diana thought. It's a pool. Water suddenly rises out of nowhere, soaking Diana as she falls to the ground.

Ghost: Exactly as I said. WATCH YOUR BACK. Don't forget.

The ghost form hovers over her now, its empty red eyes piercing into Diana's soul. She opens her mouth to scream, but a torrent of water pours through her teeth, down her chest, soaking her. Her eyes were filled with tears, not knowing it was from herself or from the water.

Diana coughs and gasp, trying to fight for air, but the water keeps coming, as if there's a reservoir inside her lungs. Her vision becomes blurry, her hearing becomes obstructed. The ghost's form becomes a gray haze in the darkness. Then, darkness envelops her...

Diana: Hrrgh!

Diana gasps and sits bolt upright in bed, clutching her chest tightly. She breathes in deep, realizing that she's safe and alive...even as the sound and sensation of her dream was still ringing in her ears.

Diana: J-Just a nightmare...What was all that about?

Diana looked to the side and sees Akko sound asleep, some drool coming from the side of her mouth. Diana sighed with content, gave Akko a kiss on her forehead and gently covered her with the blanket. Diana looked at the time, which shows it is around 3am. She then slowly got out of bed and went to the bathroom to wash her face.

After washing her face a few time, she looked in the mirror. She can see her reflection clearly; she knows how tired she is.

Diana: It all felt so real. What even was that? Watch my back? From what? From who?

Diana didn't know what to do. The only thing she can do is to try and figure out if the dream she had has any meaning to it or simply...just dreams. She sighed, closed the lights and tucked herself into bed. She hoped that everything will be alright tomorrow...

Akko's PoV:

I headed to the front door and grabbed my shoes and umbrella, just in case if there ever was gonna be any rain for today. I looked behind and saw Diana fixing up her hair in front of the mirror.

Akko: Come on, Di...What's taking so long?

Diana: Someone's in a good mood today. Just a minute, Akko...

My eyes shifted from Diana towards the locket on the bedside table. I remembered asking Diana about it, to which she simply snatched it away and put it on the table. She told me not to look at what's inside it and I agreed. Though, I caught a quick glimpse of what's inside it; a heart with the writing 'D+ A' in it. But I don't understand why she's reacting this way.
