Chapter 23: Hopes and Dreams

Akko's PoV:

Sleeping peacefully in my bed, I was cradling a pillow to my chest. Then, the sun outside was beaming through the blinds, causing me to stir. I was never a morning person, so waking up this early in the morning was kind of a hard task for me. I groaned when the first beam of sunlight hit my face. "Ugh, what time is it?", I said while reaching for the alarm clock on the nightstand. I looked at the time and sighed. It was 7 in the morning.

I placed back the clock on the surface and slowly began to sit up. I felt slightly groggy since I slept late yesterday. I opened my eyes a little more and scanned around the room. I see Amanda, Jasminka, Constanze, Hannah, Barbara, Lotte and Sucy still sleeping on the spare futon that I kept in my old room. I glanced to the right side to see no sign of Diana anywhere. "Where could she be?" I thought to myself. Crawling out of my warm bed, I walked to the bathroom, turned on the tap and washed my face with cold water. Then I jumped into a warm shower and cleaned myself up.

After that, I dried myself up, put on some clean clothes and headed to the kitchen. To my surprise, I see breakfast already being served on the table. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's called a...hash brown? I'm not too sure about it but Diana had told me about her country's delicacy. I also see some sunny side up eggs topped with some chopped chives. Just smelling them already makes me drool.

Diana: I see that you're finally awake.

Akko looked behind her and saw Diana carrying a pitcher of orange juice. Akko grabbed the pitcher and placed it on the table.

Akko: It's way too early for me though. Who wakes up this early in the morning? Usually I sleep in this late whenever I don't have anything to do today.

Diana: Well, that is true, but...there are some advantages of waking up early in the morning. Such as you get more time for yourself, healthier skin, more time to get things done...

Akko: Okay, okay, I get it....Good morning, Di.

Akko gives Diana a peck on the cheek.

Diana: Oh, my...someone's in a good mood today.

Akko: Can you blame me? I'm gonna have breakfast, which was made by my girlfriend...with my girlfriend today. Isn't that enough reason for me to be in a good mood? Also, what made you wanna cook for today? Wasn't I supposed to cook for today?

Diana: I suppose so...I just wanted to surprise you.

Akko took a quick glance at Diana's hands and noticed they were covered with a few bandages. Akko knew that Diana wasn't that good at cooking since she had food prepared for her. But, the fact that she insisted on cooking for everyone despite that made Akko happy for her.

Akko: I'm proud of you, Di...And thank you for cooking today. I hope that I can taste your cooking everyday. It's...also my dream to eat together with you, so...

Akko looked away from Diana, looking completely flustered. Diana reciprocated by giving Akko a kiss on her cheeks. Both of them chuckled and gave each other a quick hug before going back to the room to wake the others up. After washing themselves up and wearing new clothes, they sat together at the table and enjoyed the breakfast that Diana had prepared for them.

Akko: Oh, wow...this is so good!

Hannah: Of course, this is made by Diana herself...

Barbara nodded while Jasminka gave a thumbs up while putting a whole hash brown into her mouth.

Diana: Oh, it's not really that good. I just simply made it like how I used to remember it...

After having their breakfast, Diana and Akko insisted that they wash the dishes while the others tidied the bedroom a bit. While washing the dishes, Akko and Diana had some small talk.
