Chapter 23

Doppelganger mimics the face of someone everyone is familiar with. A similar voice pleads as it looks at the people it faced.

Nobody talked, the crickets are so loud, and the air is turning colder.

There are two ways that a Doppelganger can mimic someone's face and that is if it has touched the target it wants to copy or has eaten the person. This fact makes everyone has cold sweat on whether Lena has survived or not.

What they didn't know was that the doppelganger has a unique ability to copy others by seeing and hearing from the target.

Certain doppelgangers have different developed abilities. Some can perfectly copy from voice to body shape, and some have flaws that remain.

The doppelganger they faced has certainly no flaws from its mimicry, but a small leakage of a different aura for a second, everyone was able to catch a glimpse and they are not foolish to not know that the person in front of them is not Lena.

Seeing the capability of the doppelganger, everyone is on high alert and readied each of their weapons.

The first one to talk is Momo with no emotion on her face.

"Hello, who are you and what are you doing here?" She asked.

"I-it's me, Lena, I'm hurt please help me." The monster has heard the conversation of the group; thus, it has also learned the name of the person it's mimicking.

The monster tried to grab Momo's hand but a sharp attack suddenly happens.

The doppelganger realized for a split moment making it avoid the attack and back away from them.

"Ke- kehehehehehe! That's weird~ How did you notice human~" Using Lena's voice, it laughs in such a sinister way.

"Don't you f*cking dare use her voice, you piece of sh*t." Kairos said in a deep and loud voice.

"Where is she?" Claude asked.

"Hmm? Ohh! That woman? I don't know, maybe she's already dead-" The doppelganger wasn't able to finish her words when a black saber with unique markings, a kunai knife, a gun, and a katana attack the being in four sides, trapping the being in the process..

Ryuji holds the saber, putting the sharp blade on the left neck, at the back, Bloo positioned his kunai knife at the right-side neck.

Gren pointed a gun on the back of the head and Ares, pointing his katana's tip at the heart in front.

The doppelganger was caught off guard and started to sweat. Such speed! Even though they were young, they are able to catch me off guard! The doppelganger thought to itself.

"So, it's you." Momo started talking as she walks towards them.

"We thought that you are an Arete. No wonder you are so weak, you're just a doppelganger copying the aura of an Arete. Where is she?"

Silence once again befalls.

"Pfft! Hahahahahaha, you really care for that child did you! Even though knowing I'm not the child, the thought that you are killing someone looking like her, makes you feel guilty. I may be caught off guard for a second time by your ambush and this time."

"I'll make you feel regret by letting me live!" Suddenly, a sharp thick whip, full of thorns appears surrounding the body, attacking the surrounding people.

All of them blocked the attack and backed away. The first one to attack is Kairos, surrounding the enemy with chains.

As the chains immobilized the fake Lena, Gren continuously shoot.

The doppelganger attacked Gren by controlling the fallen leave and making it into sharp blades.

Bloo and Ryuji blocked and protect Gren by deflecting the leaves. At the same time, Claude throws his steel pole, exactly at the head, luckily, the fake Lena avoided it.

The steel pole left a crack on the tree behind the fake Lena. It's clear that the doppelganger doesn't have any chance of fighting against many opponents, so, it morphed its body into a blob and tried to run.

"Did you really think that I'll let you escape for a second time?" A transparent box appeared and trapped the doppelganger.

The box started to shrink making the blob panic. It becomes afraid that it will die just like this after all this time, it transforms into Lena, crying and begging.

"Sister! Please don't kill me!" The sight makes Momo hesitate, making the box weak.

This gives the enemy a chance to destroy the box, making it free from it.

It started aggressively running towards Momo with anger and tried to attack her with the whip.

"I'll kill you!!!"

"Oh my, oh my, how fierce." The man with milky brown-haired appeared. His hair is braided, wears sunglasses, wearing a white tank top, with military pants and military boots.

As he arrived, a series of thick poles struck the fake Lena. One pole in each limb and a pole at the back, piercing the being.

"AHHHHHHHH!!!" A pained voice of Lena resounded. Hearing this, the man was disgusted, making him crunch the lollipop it was eating.

"You f*cking sh*t, even though you're weakened, still maintaining the form of the child I see."

"Keheheh! Ahh~ What's wrong? Does it hurt? Hurting a weak human child like this? If I'm going to f*cking die, I'll leave you an experienced that will hunt you forever!! " The doppelganger taunts the people around making the students angry, but the man raised his hand, calming them.

Divine contacted their superior for assistance using a paper talisman was relieved. She was not able to join the fight since she created a noise-canceling spell within the area.

She equips herself with a defense talisman, letting Claude join the battle.

Such strong fights, with loud crashes, can alert ordinary people. By doing so, police can be contacted.

In a supernatural fight, ordinary people will be a casualty, thus, a noise-canceling spell is required to make, but such spell takes a toll on the caster, especially on youngsters like her.

In each team, there's one member who will not join the fight and just cast the noise-canceling spell within a perimeter.

The activation continues to draw out power from the user, thus, they are in a safe position, away from the fight, and just concentrate on maintaining the barrier.

Destruction within the surroundings will remain but, the events can be manipulated in the media. It can be either explained as an accident or just a plain mystery to the people.

Lena who was watching the whole scene was shocked at the things that were happening. Thankfully, the dimension that Neoteros created protects them from any detection outside.

The children watched the whole thing with concentration while eating some sweet pastries that I have bought.

Neoteros is still eating his sweets while watching the situation with us.

Lena is having a hard time thinking to herself where each of her sides, a child is sitting and eating, and a terrifying blob is floating above them.

This scene makes Lena feel bad since, it feels like they are a group of friends who watches the action and supernatural movie, except that it is happening in real life.

Seeing my face on another being, makes me feel weird and at the same time terrified that there are beings who can copy other's faces and use them to commit crime or something, Lena thought to herself.

Now that the fight is done, Lena's new predicament is how should she go outside without raising any suspicion.

Author's note: Been busy lately in school and nearly forgotten to post this chapter.

I just notice, when we are really busy, time flows fast. I actually got confused, thinking that it's thursday today, when it's already friday hahahaha.
