-Gabriel's Pov-

When I woke up, Nathalie was still sleeping quiescently on my chest. I grinned, while lowering my lips on the top of her head, where I kissed her. Then I wore my glasses and headed for the bathroom, where I did my usual morning routine. I immediately returned to the bed right after I was done. I expected Nathalie to be awake by then, but she is still sleeping.

I gently place her head against my chest again and reached for the book I've been reading on my night stand. I began to read using one hand to hold the book up, while the other is wrapped around my beloved Nathalie.

One of my phone began to ring as I was reading. I went for it fast and discovered a text message from my son.

I quickly typed out a response back and continued to read my book

I quickly typed out a response back and continued to read my book. Suddenly I felt Nathalie moving, I stroked her waist up and down, until she fully woke up. While I was reading, she lowered the book down with one finger.

I looked at her with a smile on my face. She moved her head from my chest to my pillow.

"Good morning, my love," I say, as I caress her cheek, then turning to my side, letting the book fall off the bed, and burying my face in her chest while I hugged her.

She placed her hand on the back of my head, and the other wrapped on my waist, "Good morning, my dear," she answers softly.

I look at her, and she gave me a quick peck on my lips. I smiled and asked her, "How are you?"

Nathalie exhaled, "I'm fine," she respond and gave me a small smile.

I looked straight to her eyes and knew she was lying. She couldn't look me in my eyes, and when she did, she quickly looked away. I know her well, and I know when she's not fine.

After last night, when Amelie showed up and told a bunch of nonsense, I know it hurt her.

Taking a deep breath, I placed my head on the pillow, and I pulled her to my chest.

"You may pretend you're alright, but I know what Amelie said last night did affect you. I'm really sorry she spoke such horrible things to you. None of this was even close to the truth. I love you, Nathalie, and I will go to any length to defend you, my love," I said, tears welling up in my eyes. When Nathalie turned to face me, she cupped my cheeks, and despite the fact that my vision was beginning to blur, it was evident that tears were already flowing down her cheeks.

Using her thumb, she wiped the tears that started to roll down my cheeks. She moved her head closer to mine and said, "And I love you too, Gabriel, I love you so much... Don't ever doubt that."

I smiled, so widely, and quickly wiped her tears off with my thumb, before pulling her face, kissing her forehead, down to her nose and finally her beautiful, pink, soft lips.
