Arthit Rojnapat was a single child of his parents. He was sixteen years old and was studying in high school. His father Mr. Rojnapat worked at a textile factory and could not get enough holidays to spend with his family. Arthit was sad as he knew that the upcoming Christmas holidays were going to be as boring as every year. He knew well that his father was not going to get any holidays except on twenty fifth of December and first of January. He asked his mother if he could go anywhere apart from his grandparents' home that year. His mother suggested a distant relative's house. There was no way that he wanted to go a distant relative's house. Grandparents' home would be far better than that as he always felt comfortable there.

He was not at all excited about the holidays and continued to do his study with a heavy heart. On the first day of the holidays he noticed that his mother was packing bags. He thought that it was the usual visit to the grandparent's house and did not ask anything about it. He too packed his bag after his mother reminded him. He did not ask about the journey date or time. He knew that his mother was going to take care of that.

He spent the first two days lazily, slept as much as he wanted. His parents did not mention anything about the holiday tour and he was not at all interested in that matter.

On the third day of his holidays his mother woke him up early and asked him to get ready and have breakfast. He got ready and went out with his mother. But to his surprise he noticed that his father was going with them too. He became more depressed, if his father got leave from his job then why did he not plan to go somewhere else for at least a couple of days. But he did not speak it loudly. To go to his grandparents' home they should catch train but his parents did not take him to the railway station. They waited at the nearest bus stop. Arthit did not want to think anything about the tour, therefore he waited silently.

After a while a luxury bus stopped there and his father said, "Arthit, come board the bus."

"Why do we need to board this bus?" Arthit asked.

"You will know it soon. Now hurry up," his father said.

He did as his father said him to do and sat on an empty window seat. His parents sat together on another seat. He had no idea what was going on and had no interest about that. After a short while the bus stopped again and a boy came to sit beside him. Arthit did not even look at him and sat unhappily.

The boy suddenly asked, "Hi! I am Kongpob. It's nice to meet you."

"Hello! I am Arthit." He continued to look outside.

"Do you hate beaches?" Kongpob asked after a long silence.

"No." Arthit finally looked at Kongpob and found him handsome.

"Then why are you not happy?"

"I am not happy because I am not going to any beach."

"Where are you going to?" Kongpob asked.

"I don't know, may be to some distant relatives home."

"Are you going alone?"

"No, my parents are sitting there," he gestured with his eyes.

Kongpob looked at that direction and stopped asking any questions. After a while Arthit closed his eyes and started napping. Kongpob kept staring at Arthit's face and continued to smile. Soon Arthit leaned on Kongpob's shoulders comfortably. Kongpob did not get annoyed and happily closed his eyes to take a nap.

It was a long journey with some time to time halts. Arthit's parents were relieved to see him chatting with Kongpob. But in reality Kongpob alone was doing the most of talking. Arthit was only answering Kongpob's questions occasionally, reluctantly. He was a little bit embarrassed as earlier he had found himself leaning on the other person's shoulder.
