They started leading me off. I felt awkward being with them again after bailing on them without saying anything. They seemed happy, but I couldn't shake the feeling of unease. They led me alongside a river. I didn't recognize where we were at.

Y/N: Hey. This isn't the way to your place.

Ichika: No, it's not.

Miku: This way.

Y/N: Look, I'm sorry. I didn't tell you all that I was planning to quit. And I've been ghosting you all for over a month now. I don't know what it is you all want from me, but I can't go back to tutoring...

They all stopped and turned around.

Itsuki: Look at this.

She held out somebody's resume to me. It was a man who was a graduate from a university in Tokyo and he was a former teacher. A great choice for a tutor.

Y/N: I'm glad it didn't take long to find a new one. He's got a decorated resume, huh?

Nino approached me and pushed on my shoulder.

Nino: Are you happy? Are you really just going to leave us with the next person and abandon us?

I backed away.

Y/N: I had a second chance, and I failed. Who's to say I'll do any better on the next exam? I'm just a student like you all. I had to give the job to a professional... It's the right thing to do.

I clenched the cake box as they all stared at me. They all had the same innocent, yet ignorant look on their face. They were making me feel bad.

Nino: You think this is about money still? You're right. You're selfish. Thanks to that, we had to study against our will. We had to memorize and learn formulas like crazy. But we ended up happy when we could solve problems.

She stuck her finger in my face.

Nino: It's all your fault we made it this far! You can't stop being selfish now!

I looked at the rest of them. She was clearly speaking for the group.

Nino: Stop being reserved! It's creepy!

I held her hand down.

Y/N: Sorry, but I can't go back... I quit on you all. Besides, I kind of got on bad terms with your father... I'm not even allowed back into your home.

Ichika: Is that a reason?

She came over and took the cake box from me.

Ichika: Thanks for the cake delivery.

Ichika: We're here.

She gestured to the apartment building that we had stopped in front of.

Ichika: This is our new home.

Y/N: What are you talking about?

Ichika: We rented it. I'm making a decent amount of money, after all. We're going to be living here from now on. Now there's nothing in our way.
