I woke up in a room with nobody else other than one of the teacher chaperones. He was standing at the door talking to somebody. I could recognize their voices and realized it was a group of people that he was talking to.

Teacher: Ryuji, thanks for carrying them here, but they'll be fine.

Ryuji: If you say so. Catch you on the flipside, then.

I heard him walk off down the hall.

**I remember what happened. I passed out on the ski lift with Itsuki. Ryuji was up ahead of us, so I guess he helped get me back here. Thanks, dude, I owe you one.**

Teacher: As for the rest of you, let Y/N get some rest here and see how they're feeling later. Could somebody go get their stuff and bring it back here?

Yotsuba: Okay...

Ichika: Sorry, it's my fault. I'll stay with them.

Itsuki: I-I'll stay behind, too. 

I got up and made my way over to the door. I peeked out from behind the teacher.

Y/N: Hi.

Miku: Y/N.

Teacher: You should stay in bed and rest. This clearly isn't any average cold that you caught, Y/N.

Y/N: I know.

I looked over at the girls. They all looked worried.

Y/N: I'm fine. Whether you stay or not, I'll still be sick. Just let me be alone. 

Nino: Hey, that's pretty cold... We're all worried about you.

Y/N: Sorry, I wasn't trying to be cold. But the campfire's starting soon, isn't it? You all should get out there.

Teacher: So there you have it. Go on ahead. 

Itsuki: But-

Teacher: From now on, this room is out of bounds. 

**That's a little bit drastic, but it's probably just crazy enough to actually get these stubborn girls to go.**

They turned around and started to walk away. 

Teacher: Okay, now get inside.

Nino lagged behind the others. Even if I wanted to show up at the Campfire Dance for her, I couldn't now. It was as good a time as any to break the news to her.

Y/N: Hey, Nino... Can we talk for a moment?

She turned back around and I walked with her down the hall,

Nino: What do you want?

Y/N: You know I care about you girls, right?

Nino: Well you have a funny way of showing it sometimes... I mean seriously, Ichika and Itsuki said they'd stay send you just sent them off like nothing.

Y/N: You think I'm funny?

Nino: Did you even hear me?! Ugh, it's so frustrating when you do stuff like that!

Y/N: But anyway, it's about my cousin, [Fake Name]. They gave me a message to leave you. They said something came up that they have to tend to. They ended up leaving the campgrounds earlier than the rest of their school.

Nino: So it was them... I wonder if they hate me. 

Nino looked devastated and saddened by the news I gave her. I don't know why I didn't just tell the truth, but this felt like an easier way to let her down. She stared at the ground and didn't say anything.
