Lily stared up at her bedroom ceiling, she was not sure what time it is, but she knows it's early in the morning. Sleep had eluded her, despite the exhaustion she felt - most prominently between her legs - after her and Bucky had come back to the compound from their day together and fallen in to bed, eagerly and almost desperately pulling at each others clothes.

But despite the connection that was still firey hot between them, Lily knew they needed to talk. Bucky had told her that he remembered everything, but how could she be sure unless they spoke about the past? But equally she dreaded the conversation, she wasn't sure why, but she was scared it might bring information to light that she wasn't ready to know.

Bucky stirred next to her and immediately his hands began to wander, trailing softly down her chest, between her naked breasts and slowly along the curve of her belly. Before he could get any further Lily grabbed his wrist and stopped him, chuckling softly "Morning my love"

"Morning beautiful" he responded, his voice gruff with sleep.

Lily rolled over on to her side so that they were face to face, Bucky's brows knitted together as he registered the anxious look on her face.

"Is everything ok Lily?" he asked, brushing the back of his hand gently across her cheek.

She cleared her throat nervously "I think we need to talk"

"Are you breaking up with me already?" Bucky laughed apprehensively, only half joking.

"No you idiot" Lily chuckled fondly "but we should probably talk about what you remember and what happened all those years ago"

"Ok" Bucky nodded "I don't really know where to start, why don't you ask me some questions?"

"Um.. ok.." Lily looked thoughtful for a moment, a hundred questions swimming in her mind waiting to be asked, one in particular floated to the surface. "Why didn't you leave the cabin after 3 days like you promised? And what happened when they found you?"

Bucky shifted uncomfortably and sat up, leaning back against the headboard "oh damn, right to it.. ok.." he took a deep breath inward and exhaled shakily "I started to leave when you didn't come back after 3 days, honestly I did.. but I was packing up my stuff and I picked up the copy of The Hobbit we were only half way through reading and I couldn't do it. I knew that our story wasn't over and I couldn't just walk away from you like that, not knowing where you were or what had happened. So I headed down to the village, I kept my distance so I wouldn't be seen, but I saw enough to know what had happened. The place was crawling with Hydra agents. It took all my self control not to storm in to that base and kill every fucker that crossed my path until I found you, but I knew that if I did that I'd get us both killed. So I went back to the cabin and worked on a plan. I spent every moment of every day for the best part of a week agonising over the best way to break in there and get us both out unharmed. I even made makeshift weapons. I didn't sleep, I didn't eat, guilt consumed me and all I could think about was what they were doing to you."

He took a shaky breath and Lily nestled in to his side, letting him know that she wasn't going anywhere and that she was safe. He wrapped an arm around her gratefully and continued.

"I was about half way to the base when they surrounded me, I started to fight and I was doing alright too, despite the whole one arm situation, but I guess I'd already had some kind of super soldier serum so I found myself beating them back. I'd taken a couple of them down when the guy who seemed to be in charge called his men off and tried to reason with me. He told me that there was no point in fighting, that I should give up and let them take me in.. he told me that you were dead and if I came amicably they would let me say goodbye to your body. I thought he was lying, I had to believe he was lying.. but he just kept saying it over and over and eventually I believed him, but by then I saw red and I killed half of them before they were able to knock me unconscious.. I woke up back in my cell, and the first visitor I had was your father"
