Peter Benjamin Parker, his best friend Ned, his not friend MJ and me the kid in this quartet who is always hiding. I live with my father, I am 13 and I have powers. More like special abilities, I am known by the public as The Hood, I often work alongside Spider-Man. I swear I know who the boy behind the mask is I just can't put my finger on it.
I look at the clock pondering half listening knowing I am only here because of my full scholarship. I can't lose it, school despite my hatred for Flash and Jessica makes my life bearable.
"Star Wars Marathon on Saturday, H you in?' Ned asked.
"Absolutely," I exclaimed.
"Harvey Lard, no talking in class," my teacher exclaimed as I rolled my eyes.
"Would you like detention again, Harvey," He said as MJ laughed.
"This is not funny Michelle Jones," he stated as he went back to teaching as MJ and I looked at each other.
I'm Just a little girl from Queens trying to make it to adulthood alright and without getting kidnapped by more people who want to do tests on me. Wow. My life is really something huh.
How do I afford well life, I didn't for a little while I was forced to get food from where I could. I have never stolen anything just peoples food scraps, dumpster diving you know. Now I have a job, I get paid well, for food clothes and I have almost saved up enough for a mattress. I live in a abandoned tree house. I said I lived with my Father I do, just I only go home on the weekends. He spends most days away and the ones he isn't he has some new thing to inject into me. Why don't I just escape? Well I tried but he had his work friends track me down then got them to help him mark into me not to forget. My treehouse though, is now well maintained, and there is no ladder to get up.
There is a small door, and it's got a small solar panelled light. I found it years before I ran away and since no one else can get up there no one knows. It isn't big, and I don't have running water, I have a basket with all my food which is normally not much. One for my clothes and one for my blankets. I shower in public restrooms or when I stay at friends houses. I am living so much better now though than I was. What people maybe don't realise is no money doesn't just mean no food, it means no toiletries, no clean clothes and makes it essentially impossible to do anything.
Basically when I turned 10 my Father refused to keep giving me anything, food, water. Something about it preparing me for his uses. I'm pretty sure he works for some evil person who wants my teleportation skills for their own use. He's pretty insane. How he managed to pass CPS testing when he gained custody of me after my mother passed God knows.
It was almost impossible for me to get a job. Unfortunately being a superhero often isn't too well paid without your identity being revealed. Lucky Spooderman.
The school bell rings finally, as I stand up to leave to go to work. I leave the gates and take of my hoodie to reveal my uniform. I'm working until 12am today an eight hour shift. I work 4pm-12am, on Friday and Saturday. Sunday I don't work I have to go home and allow my father his time to do what he wants. If not, I get it much worse later. How do I find time to fight crime and still do what I want in a schedule like that. Well I haven't actually been out recently, I trust spidey to keep Queens safe. I arrive at work 3:59 on the dot and take over from the cashier currently on. My boss comes up with a solemn facial expression that can't mean anything good.
'Harvey, I have to move away the shop is getting closed I'm sorry to do this to you but this is your last shift I have to put the building on the market.' I heard the words ring through my head as my boss informed me the tragic news.'What why?!' I asked knowing I would have to find a new job now but considering last time how long would that take. Looks like I'm not getting a mattress. I only have 1,600 in savings. Which may seem like a-lot and well actually it is but, it's still not enough for me to be able to buy a mattress without having a job.
'My Father is sick, I have to move back to England to care for him,' my boss told me.
'Ok, well I hope that he gets better,' I said smiling weakly before beginning my work. Soon my shift ended and I picked up my last pay check of $329.60 before locking up the store and leaving my key inside like my boss had asked. I pulled my hoodie over my head as I took myself home hoping I wouldn't have to deal with someone trying to mug me. I climbed up the tree as per usual and open the tiny 'door' as I placed my stuff down and not wanting to think. I ate a plain piece of bread. I picked up a clean blanket realising I needed to go to the laundromat or tell Peter my washing machine broke. Which at this stage I was probably going to do just because I'm unemployed again. I then curled into a ball under my thin blanket and tried to forget my worries as I fell asleep. Maybe you deserve this Harvey Lard.
