"YOU."

"h - AH -"

the antlered figure let out a short yelp upon being violently tackled to the bloodied dirt by the symbol of frost. the cold blade of her sword hovered just between his eyes.

"MITSUAKI, YOU MOTHERFUCKER - YOU THINK YOU COULD GET AWAY WITH WHAT YOU DID TO US?! I SHOULD KILL YOU RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW YOU COWARD -"

the symbol's screams of rage caught in her throat, every muscle tensing upon feeling the sudden, freezing touch of a blade against the back of her neck.

"you can enact your revenge on the assistant later, miss gray," hummed the overseer, calm as ever. they drew back their spear, allowing the symbol to move once again. "unless you want to destroy any chance of saving this city."

the symbol inhaled, shaky - giving the assistant enough time to teleport out from beneath the gray-haired girl, stumbling a bit to hide behind the overseer. she grit her teeth, digging her blade into the ground before standing, muttering a quiet, "fine."

abruptly, breaking the quiet, came a short scream from the viper - who had followed the symbol of frost.

bright red blood mixed with black skin, as the god-killer dug rows of shark teeth deeper into her arm. she quickly flung the monster to the opposite side, allowing the sun deity to decapitate it with one swing of her warblade.

the white wolf fluffed up in alarm, quickly tensing and raising her battle axe, whirling to face the accursed grove once again.

the overseer sighed, tapping the blade of their spear to the ground - just as a flock of god-killers pounced from the undergrowth. instead of hitting their target, they broke their jaws and necks on a frozen barrier spell, before collapsing to the ground in a heap.

"a pathetic display, honestly," she sighed, turning around and brushing the antlered figure away from them. "harmony?"

"y - yeah??"

"I trust you will be able to lead this battle until the Core is destroyed?"

the wolf tensed, before nodding. "I...I'll do my best."

"lovely. now then, mitsuaki - let's get this over with."

.

.

.

"where's jilaiya?!"

"where - I THOUGHT YOU HAD HIM!!"

"I GAVE HIM TO YOU, DUSK - HOW DID YOU LOSE HIM SO EASILY?! HE'S AN 8 FOOT TALL GOD-KILLER -"

"IT'S NOT MY FAULT HE JUST DISAPPEARS AT RANDOM -"

"OH W E L L  T H E N -"

the lion and the guardian stood among a heap of bodies and broken crystals - by all means, crucial pieces of history - and yet, seemed more concerned about where their brother had abruptly disappeared to.

and for your, the reader's, mental wellbeing -

the harvestman was just fine.

covered in blood and on the verge of going psychotic, but fine, for lack of a better term.

the god-killer inhaled shakily, a thousand thorns in his chest, grasping the handle of his spear hard enough that his knuckles went white - standing amongst what felt like a massacre.

old, broken, gray shards of hearts and souls lay strewn carelessly through the rotten undergrowth, dull and devoid of all magic. faint, flickering lights of all colors - slowly draining - moved out of the harvestman's way as he walked through the remains, a few collapsing on their way.

even while living here, amongst the god-killers, he severely underestimated how many lives they - HE - took.

his wandering was abruptly ended by a sudden, burning pain shooting through his throat.
