+ LORE +
- Dusk and Demented -

| Demented is a physical amalgamation of every sin committed by mankind.
going off a Biblical interpretation - they were brought into existence the moment that the first humans disobeyed God. she followed the Serpent in his wake of sin and destruction, consuming every bit of evil she could find.
eventually he broke off from the Serpent and began to hunt on her own. they began to possess mankind, forcing them to sin, so she could eat the ichor like a vulture to a carcass and move on to the next victim.
their real name is simply, "Sin". she goes by many names, though, Demented being one of them.

| Dusk was a special case to Sin.
a holy being, blood-related to an angelic demigod and a violent sun goddess.
a mortal being, who made mistakes - was cocky, sharp-tongued, snappy, anything but perfect.
he was an almost perfect combination.
well, she just had to have him.
she couldn't let such a good feast go to waste. she had to have fun first.

| after the events that they don't talk about anymore, Sin was effectively banished to the Abyss, an unreachable pocket of space that exists under the Void. the only inhabitant of the Abyss was Sin.
the Abyss is also where forgotten memories come to die.
they slept for years - he can't recall how long - to regain their strength, subconsciously consuming any memories that got a bit too close.
occasionally parts of Sin's half-dead form would break off and become physical creatures of their own. only around five Fragments of Sin formed before he woke up and hunted them down, re-consuming them to gain back what was lost.

| when Dusk reached roughly 25 years, Sin tracked him down through old memories. in her weakened form, she confronted him, offering a deal.

"how about a symbiotic relationship?"

"I have no reason to trust you. you forced me to kill them. you destroyed me from the inside out and left me to rot. tell me why I shouldn't rip you apart."

"...well. I don't have much of an excuse for that, I guess. but hey...! I can't possess you on my own anymore. look at me, I'm truly pathetic. if...if you agree to let me coexist with your soul, then...I'll help you protect you and your family. deal?"

| they argued for a while. like. a while.

| evidently they came to an agreement. if Demented/Sin breaks their promise and attempts to harm either Dusk or a family member, then he has full permission to violently rip him from his soul and erase her from this plane of existence.

| Dusk's soul alone is much stronger than Demented, so she has no plans of trying to fuck up their currently friendly relationship as of now.

+ OTHER +

| occasionally, when in great danger - and I mean GREAT DANGER - Dusk will allow Sin to fully possess him and mutate his body to something more functional for an eldritch creature like her.

| unfortunately for Dusk, this can result in severe internal and external damage to his normal body. like stomach gashed open, jaw half-ripped from his skull, shattered arms, etc.

| luckily for Dusk, Sin will die when he dies, and she doesn't want that, so USUALLY he survives with little to no damage.

| by that I mean the luckiest he's ever gotten with Sin's "healing" is when he didn't suffer any injury other than a few broken ribs and temporary blindness after shifting back from the mutant form.
