I'm incredibly bored and have been wanting to infodump on my original species for a LONG fuckin' time now so-

shapeshifters are a rare species; however, their magic is commonly used in spells and grimoires around the world.

there are two types of shapeshifters as of now.

the normal "shifter" - creatures who can change their appearance at will into any organic being, usually humans or animals. when in animal or mystic being form, the shifter will adapt the eating and magic habits of its' current form to blend in. shifters lack scars or body markings from shifting, unless they wish to have scars/markings. they can also create entirely new appearances.

and the mimick - creatures who can change appearance at will, but can shift into objects. they are Alternate-type creatures who are more often than not hostile. they can be easily identified by their teeth and scars from shifting.

Mystics and other creatures such as kitsune do not count as shapeshifters - they have shapeshifting magic, which is different.

as you may know, the Shier Whia are mostly extinct as of now, since the eradication of the Core that controlled them.

however, since the Shier Whia's name and species depended entirely on the Core - that means our main five no longer count as Shier Whia.

I mean I'm still going to call them that out of instinct but-

In-Betweens are the unique results of a Shier Whia separating themselves from the Core through one way or another before the Core's death, preventing them from becoming a mindless zombie after the event.

I literally haven't said anything about this species until now but yk better late than never-

Lidins are gentle giants of an experiment, born from the blood and DNA of the Shier Whia.

do I know why biologists decided to do this? no.

am I going to question them? also no.

Lidins only began to be introduced to the public a few weeks after the Core's death and the Grove's healing. they were not fully released, only talked about; however it is a plan of the leading scientists' to create a docile, pet-like species and release them to the public.
