Maddie

Saturday rolled around and the guys all had the day off with no work. Crystal had gone into work early to finish a paper she was writing, and Luke and Sierra went out for brunch. I still hadn't met Sierra. Anytime she was around I was sleeping, we just barely missed each other each time. It was late afternoon and I was wearing some sweats and Ashton's shirt as Calum, Michael, and I played Just Dance in the living room. Luke was out with his girlfriend and Ashton was cleaning up the kitchen. "Stop getting in my way mate," Calum told Michael.

"You have more room, move," Michael argued. I didn't argue, just kept focusing on the game so I could win another round. I have won two, Michael won one, and Calum won zero. The round ended with me winning and Calum losing by a lot.

"You fucking ruined my chance," Calum swore as Michael.

"You have so much room, it can still sense you if you move,"

"No it can't,"

"Yes it can, it's a remote," Michael argued. The two argued as I sat down trying to catch my breath, but I couldn't. I tried to breathe in, but it sounded more like a wheeze, which gained both of their attention.

"Ash, bring in her emergency inhaler. It's on the counter by the coffee maker," Calum yelled as he knelt in front of me. Michael took the remote off of my wrist as Ashton rushed in with a red inhaler, handing it to Calum as he shook it up.

"You have to take two deep breaths when I push the metal down, ok?" he said and I nodded, not saying anything. He put it in my mouth and counted to three, then I breathed in whatever was in there. "Good, one more," he said and we did the same thing. "Good job, keep taking deep breaths. Put your hands on top of your head," he said and I nodded. Eventually I felt everything get back to normal.

"Better?" Ashton asked and I nodded.

"What was that?" I asked quietly.

"That was an asthma attack. It can happen sometimes when you're running around and using a lot of energy. We were doing a lot of dancing, so it was harder to breathe already," Calum explained.

"Maybe no more Just Dance for a while, you're still recovering from everything," Michael suggested and I nodded.

"I didn't like that," I mumbled.

"I know, but it will get better. You can maybe even grow out of asthma, as long as you keep taking your inhaler and doing everything you can to make your lungs stronger," Ashton told me and I nodded. I couldn't even play a stupid video game now because of my lungs, this sucked. I didn't know asthma attacks hurt that much, but they did.

"Do you wanna watch a show?" Michael asked and I nodded.

"Luke, Sierra, and Crystal will be home soon and they're bringing dinner," Calum tried to cheer me up.

"Ok," I mumbled, which made them look at each other, seeing my peppy mood was brought down a lot. Instead of playing Just Dance again, we all sat on the couch and watched some movies. I leaned against Ashton as the movie played. Once the movie was over, Luke had come home with his girlfriend, both carrying bags of food. Crystal had followed behind carrying an iced coffee.

"Maddie, this is Sierra, my girlfriend," Luke introduced us.

'It's nice to meet you, Maddie," Sierra smiled.

"You too," I lightly smiled back. We got up to get dinner and went into the kitchen.

"You ok?" Luke whispered as we followed behind the group.

"Yeah," I nodded lightly, but I was far from that. I was upset with my brothers, and I didn't want to admit that because then they would all call CPS. We all ate dinner with conversation going around. I pushed my thoughts aside to get back to my normal mood, but when bedtime rolled around I let them come back. I laid in the guest room, quietly crying as I stared at the wall in the guest room. For a while I was just laying there, trying to stay quiet, but that didn't work. My door opened, so I held my sobs in as I stared at the wall.

"What's wrong sweet girl?" I heard Luke whisper, but I didn't respond. "We have thin walls darling, I know you're upset," he rubbed my back as more tears fell down my face.

"Why did my brothers do this?" I choked out, not looking at him.

"I don't know," he sighed, "and it's unfair you have to face the consequences, but you'll be in a safe environment now," he promised.

"I wish they never did," I sniffled as I turned and looked at him. He helped me sit up and pulled me into a tight hug as more tears fell down my face.

"It's ok to cry," he promised me, and that was what I did. I cried into his shirt, letting him hug me and comfort me. After a couple of minutes I was calm and only sniffled to calm down. "Do you want to stay with me and Sierra?" he offered and I nodded. He picked me up and carried me next door to his room, closing the door behind him. Sierra was awake as well, obviously concerned too.

"It's alright doll," she said as Luke put me down in between them, "things are going to change in a good way," she said. I didn't say anything. All I did was lay my head down and let tears hit the pillow until I was asleep.
