Thirty Eight

Maddie

"Are you ready?" Calum asked as we went into court.

"Yep," I smiled happily as I held his hand.

"This is a big day," Ashton told me.

"I'm really excited,"

"We can tell," Luke chuckled. We went into the court and Calum and I sat at the table while everyone else sat behind us. It was pretty quiet as the judge shuffled the papers, reading through them. I was picking at my nails as Calum nervously tapped his foot, neither of us knowing what to say.

"Dr. Hood, you can approach the mic," the judge said. Calum let out a small sigh and got up, going up to the mic as he adjusted his jacket. "You're here today to adopt Ms. Madison Grace?"

"Yes your honor," Calum nodded.

"From what it looks like the paperwork checks out, all the background information, files," he trailed off. "And you're ready for this commitment?"

"Absolutely. I have a great support system and will go to any lengths I have to so I can give her the life she deserves,"

"Well, then I will give you the papers to make it official," he grabbed the papers off his desk. Calum went over and grabbed them, then came back down and sat next to me. I leaned over and watched him fill out the papers with a smile on my face. After he filled it out, he handed them back to the judge and sat back down.

"This makes it official that Dr. Calum Hood is now the legal guardian of Madison Grace Hood," he hit his gavel. I grinned widely and Calum pulled me into a tight hug, making me giggle as I hugged him back.

"You're finally my dad, officially at least," I said happily.

"I love you so much Mad," he told me as I picked my head back up.

"I love you too, dad,"
