AHH I'm sorry for taking so long to update this! Softball decided to throw a curveball at me—haha, funny. Ok I'm sorry, that was a terrible joke.. Anyway! The abuse mentioned in past chapters is referenced but if you've survived the previous chapters, this is a walk in the park. Still, I like to put a warning.. so if you don't like implications of blood, you know the drill—be cautious.
Luz POV:
I felt that my presentation actually went alright, and Willow did phenomenal. Did you know that the Slitherbeast once had a counterpart called the Witherbeast? They lived during the Deadwardian Era till they became hunted down for their furr and claws. Kinda sad, but cool. It's like the backstory to the Slitherbeast, since the only Witherbeasts that survived were one's with white furr that blended in with the snow on the Knee to hide from hunters. Anyway.. I'm getting distracted.
For my presentation, I talked mostly about the misinterpretations of werecreatures and basically yata yata the myths are wrong. I mentioned the human realm idea of werewolves but no one seemed that interested, meh.
I, on the other hand, found this class actually enjoyable. It was the first one of the day I actually paid attention. The creatures were interesting to learn about, and they took my mind off Amity. Of course, as soon as the bell rung—snap, there I was thinking about her again. I hurried to my locker and pulled out the device we use to chat.
'Hey, how you doing?' . . . 'Hope you're ok. Talk tmr?' . . . 'From your favorite human' . . . ':)'
No responses. Well, I guess she might not be checking her messages all the time. I sighed, I couldn't help but think the worst. Did something happen to Amity?
Willow and Gus walked by, and I smiled at them. We talked for a bit, mostly about presentations. I don't particularly remember what else because two green haired witches caught my eye. They brushed past us clearly in a hurry. Strange.
Reguardless, I waved goodbye to Willow and Gus and walked outside. I was quickly met by the sound of palismen taking off. I looked up to see Emira and Edric rapidly flying away. Something felt off.
"Ed!" I called, "Em!"
Edric POV:
Emira and I finished our last class, and quickly got our stuff from our lockers. It was finally the end of the day, and we could go home to Mittens..
Ed and I didn't say anything to each other, but scurried out the front door of hexside. We quickly hopped on our palismen and flew off. I
briefly heard Luz shouting after us, but I payed no attention to her—I had our little sister to worry about right now.
We arrived home and immediately were struck by cold hard silence, meaning Amity was likely still in the basement. Unfortunately, we couldn't go yet.
"Hello children," said our mother in her typical fake tone, "Good day at school as always I presume."
We both nodded but said nothing. Mother frowned and walked away upon losing interest in us.
Once I was sure she was out of earshot I turned toward Em, "What are we going to do?"
"Well, we should check if Amity is in her room first. If not you know where she'd be."
I nodded slowly. Scared for the worst.
Em continued, "In that case, I'll try to get the key and then—" She abruptly paused. The creak of a door was heard not far from us. We knew whoever was there had heard at least a part of our conversation.
I grabbed Ems arm. She looked at me then back at where the noise came from..
Soon the figure approached; I closed my eyes.
