Well guys here we are! Back again and swinging—okay I don't know what that was but you're dealing with my chaotic writing now. Anyway, no warnings for this one; just setting up the next chapter with some interesting things.

Also I just want to thank all of you for sticking with me through this rollercoaster of a journey. Thank you to every one of you who commented on my A/N and for all the hugs! I really appreciate it; you guys are the best <3  Now onward to the long awaited story~

Luz POV:

They all knew. Willow, Viney, me—but Amity didn't. She had no idea what was going on. A sense of guilt engulfed me as I gulped down the lump in my throat. Amity's eyes glazed with concern and deep-ridden fear scanned across the room searching desperately for some understanding. They fell upon Willow and her coarse, dry voice pleaded, "Please Willow. Tell me what's going on."

Willow stared back hopelessly; no words were capable of escaping her mouth. I tried to swallow but as much as I did, the lump wouldn't go away. I was responsible for keeping Amity happy and oblivious—now what?

"Amity look," started Viney, clearly the bravest one here, "Your mother is locked up."

For a moment I saw the hope in her, "Behind bars!?"

Viney shook her head, "No. But she's knocked out cold, sitting in a cell."

"You mean the basement?"

Viney's eyes widened and so did mine, "You guys have a basement?" Silence filled the room.

"Ugh," Willow sighed, "I didn't know either, and I still don't know fully understand the whole deal with the basement. But we have more pressing matters at hand." I nodded and Amity grabbed my hand. I gently rubbed it without the other two taking notice.

"We came here to make sure you two are safe," Willow continued, "We honestly have no idea how long that place will hold her."

Amity nodded sadly. I knew her relaxed, straightforward face was merely a disguise for her fear. Her hand was shaking in mine. Viney walked up to her. I knew she saw past my girlfriend's coverup too.

"Get that look off your face. I hate it."

"What?" She said genuinely confused, as if shocked her cover-up had failed.

Viney kneeled down, "The face where you always hide everything. It makes me sad everytime you use it. It's okay to be afraid, you know." Amity lowered her gaze to the floor, not knowing how to respond. I squeezed her hand.

"You're strong," I said, "We'll get through this."

She gave a weak smile and hugged me; then looked at Viney and did the same.

"There's a good Mittens," She teased.

Willow chuckled lightly, "I think I understand where the nickname came from."

"You guys are so mean," Amity shook her head, "But I don't know what I'd do without you all."

Willow came over and we all engaged in a group hug. It was comforting for everyone; however, the comfort was short-lived. Viney and Willow got notifications from their scrolls. Viney pulled hers up and noticed it was from Em in the newly formed group chat.

Em. Illusions are back up

Vin. All Mittens accounted for.

Vin. Eda, Alador any luck?

...

Ed.  Imma take that as a no

Vin. Can someone go see if she's still where we left her?
