I came downstairs and saw Mama T behind the counter with Mama D. They were cleaning because the shop wasn't open yet.

"You're taking Dani to the doctor's?" Mama D asked.

I nodded, "Yes, where is she?"

Mama D then added, "I woke her up not too long ago so she's probably getting dressed."

Mama T then handed me a breakfast sandwich while saying, "Your grandmother called asking about you."

I raised my eyebrow, "Was she asking about me or Dani."

Mama D chuckled, "Talia you're her favorite, she only cares for Dani so much because she's your daughter."

"I know, I know..." I murmured.

Mama T looked to me, "Your grandmother said not to trust anyone wearing green today."

I was confused, "Is it just me or does Grandma say the craziest things for like...no reason."

Mama D nodded, "I understand honey but your grandmother has always been that way. And she has a method to her madness so just listen to the lady."

I took a bite of the sandwich but I was thirsty. I wanted an iced coffee.

"Mama T can I-" she put an ice coffee on the counter.

I took it, "Thanks, can you-"

She handed me a straw.

I smiled "Thank you Mama."

Mama D then said, "It's so hot when you read people's minds like that."

Mama T chuckled.

I cringed, "Ew, cut it out you two."

Mama D went around the counter and I knew they were about to kiss.

Mama D wrapped her arms around her, "I love you Tyler."

Mama T blushed, "I love you too Danielle."

They kissed and I looked away. And it was just in time because I heard little footsteps coming fast down the steps.

They pulled away and Dani came down.

She came around the counter and saw me, "You're here?"

I nodded, "I promised I would take you right?"

She was just a little quiet.

She went by the short counter, "Mama T."

Mama T put her breakfast on the counter and she grabbed it. She looked at me "I'm ready."

I left and I drove her to the doctors office. She ate her food on the drive. After she ate she fell asleep.

Once we made it I went to the back seat.

I began to unbuckle her from the car seat, "Dani, come on, wake up."

She stirred and I had to pick her up. I stepped out of the car and closed the door before putting her down. She groggily walked into the office with me.

There was toys on the ground for some of the kids to play with. Most of the kids were playing with the toys but Dani sat quietly.

"You don't want to play with the toys?" I asked.

She shook her head so I said, "What do you want to do?"

She pointed to the newspaper next to me so I gave it to her.

She then said, "Do you have a pencil?"

I pulled out a pen from my bag and handed it to her.

Then she went to the word search and started doing it. Some of the other people in the office were staring at her.

She wasn't bothering anyone so I let her continue.

After about five minutes a female receptionist came over, "Hi Ma'am. The newspapers are really for our parents and older guardians. We don't let the kids scribble on them."

I then said, "Oh, sorry."

I tried to take it but Dani gripped it, "I'm not done."

I then said, "Dani it isn't for kids."

She let it go and folded her arms. She was really upset by this.

I looked at it and she only had two more words to find.

She was actually doing the word search.

I looked up to the receptionist, "Is it ok if I use it and just let her watch?"

The receptionist agreed with a nod and left.

I leant over and whispered, "Look, you can search for the words and if you find it I'll circle it for you."

She glanced up at me and I whispered, "Deal?"

She smiled and nodded. I motioned her over. She came closer and looked at the paper on my lap as I angled it to her.

I let her find the other two words and once we finished I gave her a high-five. Her spirits were lifted.

She gave me a smile, "Thanks Talia."

I was a little quiet, "You're welcome."

She sat back in her chair.

She calls me Talia.

After five more minutes we were called back and I had to sit with her during her appointment.

We got the usual verdict of her being small for her age. I felt like it would change eventually considering how well Mama T feeds her.

Other than that she was a healthy young girl and that gave me peace of mind.

After we finished everything I put her back in her car seat.

As I strapped her in she said, "I'm sorry for calling you Talia."

I looked at her and her voice was soft, "But I don't know what to call you."

Her eyes teared and she looked at her lap.

I tilted her face up to me. "I do want to be your mom, I do. But I've not been that in your life yet. So for now Talia is just fine. You did nothing wrong, it's my fault."

I kissed her forehead and she nodded softly.

I closed the door and then I heard, "Hey!"

I looked back to see a guy.

"Watch the way you swing that door. This car is expensive." He yelled.

I rolled my eyes, "Ok, whatever man."

I got in the drivers side and he got out. He was in a green shirt with a ridiculous pattern.

"You better watch out!" I just drove off as he tried to approach the car.

I wasn't entertaining him any further, especially not with Dani in the car.
