All I Want by Kodaline
All I Want by Ellie Goulding (Cover of Kodaline) (This one is for Elsie's part)
Jack:
Watching her play those two songs was amazing. The group's plan had worked and she let her emotions out through songs. As much as I wanted to hold her I couldn't. I was afraid of losing control and doing something I would always regret; taking her blood. She wrote down something on a piece of paper and left. I hoped that she would turn around and give me one last glance even though she couldn't see me and she did. Her blue eyes filled with pain and longing. Anna opened the door for her and she stepped out. My heart and soul yearned for her but I didn't want to hurt her. Just as I was going to leave, another Vampire I had befriended on the streets of New York showed up. Mavis sat on the piano bench and grabbed the piece of paper and started reading it aloud.
"I would leave that alone if I were you Mavis." I told her as I added another letter for Elsie in my notes on my phone. Since I left with Samuel I had started writing letters to Elsie even though I couldn't send them to her. Now it was a habit and it seemed more like a journal or diary meant for her. It has all the things I wish we could've done together. Mavis scoffed at me and continued reading it.
"'It's not about, not about angels, angels. For Jack.'" My head snapped up at the last part and Mavis smiled sweetly at me. "You guys really do love each other huh?" I nodded and grabbed the paper from her hand and put it in my pocket. "We promised each other we would have forever together. Now all that's ruined." Mavis groaned and ran her small pale hand through her jet-black hair. She was annoyed with me, I could tell.
"Why don't you just get over your fear of hurting her?" She asked. I shook my head and said, "It's not that simple Mav. There are other things that I have to worry about. Things that you wouldn't understand." She groaned again and said, "You think I wouldn't understand? Well newsflash Jack, I understand more than you think. I know what it's like to love someone only to lose them. I know the fear of never being able to love someone again better than you ever will. At least you still have the one you love! At least she still loves you and will never forget you! You don't know how much I wish I could have someone look at me the way you look at her. But like you said, I would never understand. I would never understand true pain. But I have. And I always will." She started crying and I took a step forward but she held up her hands to stop me.
"You have so much that others don't. But you will never understand that." With that she left. I sighed and sat down on the piano bench. I looked down at my phone and contemplated what to do. Mavis was right. I still had her, I still had the chance to be with her. With my mind made up, I dialed her number and waited. Three rings, five, seven. When I was about to give up on the tenth ring, she answered.
"Hello?"
Her voice sounded sweet and hurt. I took a deep breath and said, "Elsie, it's me, Jack."
"Jack? Is it really you?"
"Yeah it is. Listen, can we talk? Somewhere where we can be alone?"
"Um, sure. What about The Attendent Cafe?"
"That's perfect. I'll see you there at 7 then?"
"Okay. And Jack?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
I smiled and said, "I love you too Snowflake."
She hung up and I got up to leave. Outside I felt different. For the first time in a long time, I felt alive. More alive than anybody could ever be and it felt amazing.
