Chapter 34- The Only Reason

Mavis-

"Is that everything?" Hans asked me as I set down the big black duffel bag I had bought along with my clothes. I looked up and looked around the room. My bag, my duffel bag and my jacket. I had everything I had in my room.

"Yeah, that's it." I said and flopped down on the bed. The ceiling was free of glow in the dark stars, which was okay by me. I could finally look up without getting dragged back down memory lane. Hans sat down on the bed and stared at me for a little bit.

"Thank you for doing this, Hans. I really appreciate it." I said, looking at him. My beanie was just above my head since I didn't have bobby pins to keep it in place. He smiled and said the most adorable thing ever, "Anything for my girl." I smiled and sat up.

"Your girl? From what I remember you haven't asked me to be your girlfriend." I said, deciding to tease him on his word choice. I didn't mind that he called me his. He just hadn't made it official yet. In all honesty, I think if he ever did decide to make it official, I'd quickly agree to it. I really like him. Like more than I've ever allowed myself to like someone. That is saying a lot considering my past relationship.

"Well, I mean. You are, aren't you? I mean, it's okay if you don't want to be. But do you? I'm sorry, just forget it." Hans was genuinely nervous and I thought it was cute. I laughed and gave him a peck on the cheek.

"I was just teasing you Hans." I said and he smiled. Then as quickly as it had come, his smile vanished and he said, "My name isn't Hans."

"What do you mean?" I asked a little scared by how quickly his mood changed. He looked at me and sighed. His hand moved through his hair and his other one quickly grabbed mine.

"What I mean is, Hans isn't my first name." He looked away as if he was ashamed to say that. I squeezed his hand and using my free one, touched his cheek. He looked at me with sad eyes and I grabbed his other hand.

"What is your first name?" I asked, playing with his hands and he laughed a little before intertwining our fingers together. "Dimitri. Dimitri Hans Isles." He quietly said and I smiled. Dimitri. It sounded nice for him. I couldn't imagine why he didn't like it.

"I like it." I said before kissing his cheek again. Our faces were only a couple of inches away from each other and before I could register anything, our lips were smashed together and Dimitri's hands were on my waist pulling me onto his lap. I grabbed his shoulders and straddled him, never breaking contact with his lips. I wanted this, he wanted this. We were like two sparks of a flame and it had never felt so right before. His hands gripped my hips as he brought me closer to him and moved his head a little to deepen the kiss.

Using the floor as leverage, I pushed him back a little and he moved to lie down. His hands were now in my hair keeping my head in the place he wanted it. My hands moved to his shirt and ran down his broad chest and solid abs. He broke the kiss and began kissing the length of my neck to my collar bone before gently biting my collar bone. I let out a moan and my hands automatically gripped his shoulders. Picking me up, he placed me on my back and hovered over me, looking at me with his beautiful brown eyes and kissing me again. He broke the kiss and kissed me all over my face ending at my lips again.

"Maybe we shouldn't rush it. We've got all the time in the world." He said after kissing me. I smiled and nodded. He was right, we didn't need to rush. Neither of us was going anywhere so what was the point? He smiled and kissed me again.

"Mavis, will you be my girlfriend? Will you stay by my side and take the time to get to know me as I will you? Will you promise to not let our pasts ruin our future together and always trust my word over anyone else's?" His look was so sincere and he was asking me to share my life with his. It might not have been a marriage proposal but it was damn near close. I really liked him, might even love. I touched his cheek and smiled.

"Yes Dimitri, I'll be your girlfriend and I'll stay by your side. I promise to trust your word over anyone else's and I will not let our pasts ruin any chance we have of a future together. Yes." I said and he smiled and kissed me again and again.

It was the perfect way for us to be together. I wasn't planning on letting him go and by the way he smiled at me, kissed me, held me, I could tell that he had no intention of letting me go either. Maybe when we had a few months or years, I'd offer him eternity to spend with me. That is, if he doesn't leave after I tell him what I am. Would I? It was so hard to make that decision. What if he called me a monster? What if he was disgusted? I couldn't bear the thought of him leaving me. I wouldn't survive another heartbreak, couldn't.

Dimitri sat up, pulling me with him and he leaned against the headboard with me in his lap. He grabbed the t.v. remote and turned on the t.v.. I put my head on his shoulder and curled up in his arms. He was so warm that I wished I could warm up like a normal human being. I sighed and his hand moved up and down on my back slowly. It was relaxing hearing his breathing and his heartbeat. He kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms around my waist while watching whatever was on the television. I closed my eyes and soon fell asleep in the arms of the man I am slowly and silently falling in love with.
