Jade and her friends all sat around each other, staring at the night sky. Darkness consumed the night, and the stars signaled the end of what ended up being a highly eventful couple of days. Between Jade being rushed around to meet different reporters and, of course, the grand meeting of the kingdom, exhaustion took over.
"Well, tomorrow we're going back to Omega 5," Amelia said, breaking the silence. "Where my best friend, the Princess of Findere, will enter the first time as royalty. A normal day." They all laughed. "I'm sorry that Edge forced you to announce it sooner."
"It's okay." Jade said, releasing a breath, "I'm sure someone would've found out beforehand anyway. Better to have happened during the break so I wouldn't have to miss any more days at Omega 5."
"We'll be jumping right into our teams," Joe said, shaking his head. "I can't believe we've already arrived at this point. It seems like just yesterday we all met."
"I'm so lucky to have found you guys when I did," Jade smiled and turned towards everyone. Alex's eyes watched her, a smile on his face. "I couldn't imagine having anyone else by my side throughout all this."
"Just hope that Edge hasn't already spread the word that you are being single around," Joe chimed. "Or else the few guys wanting Amelia's seat the first day will expand greatly." Jade laughed. "Well, I'm going to turn in for the night." Joe stood up, "Alex, you coming?"
"I'll be there soon, okay?" Joe nodded, smiling as he walked off.
"Same here," Amelia said, embracing Jade. "See you in the morning."
Soon enough, it was just the two of them. Jade and Alex looked at each other and smiled. "Jade, you inspire me." She smiled. "After everything you've been through, the fact that helping this kingdom is all you want is remarkable. I gravitated towards you as a kid and knew I had to step in that day. If only I'd grown the way you had, with a large heart that it still grew no matter how many times people challenged it." Jade smiled. "There couldn't be a better person to help this kingdom than you. I will always be your number one fan."
"As I am yours, Alex," he embraced her. "Now go, don't keep Joe waiting." He squeezed her hand before getting up and leaving. Jade stared at the sky, the first moment she had to herself this week. She had anticipated a heavy expectation to fall over her for something to stir worry in her, but none did. For once, Jade knew she had found her purpose.
Standing up, she walked along the pond and crossed out into the field to better look at the starry sky about her. A smile took over her face. Jade breathed in the brisk air around her and turned back to the castle. Even from the backside, it was a marvelous structure, and this was one of her new homes. The small intimacy of her home in Solsper would keep her grounded, while the great walls and pillars of the castle would help her lead. A combination of humility and pride could've only been achieved by how she grew up. Her resentment for the past she had faded with each realization of how far it brought her. Tomorrow she would return to Omega 5 with her team assignments. Everything started falling into place, and she was ready to embrace it. The tension between her and Edge worried her a bit, but she hoped the distance they would give would help the wound heal faster. Jade could understand the bitterness Edge left with and why he forced the story as he did. She'd thank him if she engaged in the same behavior, but she knew it was best to let that relationship fade naturally. "Princess of Findere," she scoffed. "Who would've thought?" She smiled, giving the sky one more glance before heading back inside.
