Chapter Fifty-Three - Electric Blue Rose vs. Icy Revelations

Jade, Alex, and Ray entered the stadium dressed in their new uniforms. Cheers came from the stands, from students eager to watch the battle. Whether it would be packed for every battle or just the one's Jade competed in was yet to be seen. Topaz crossed to her and embraced her.

"You ready?" Topaz asked, enjoying Jade's growing smile. "I can't wait to see what you can do."

"I can't wait to show you," Jade enthused. She turned, seeing Ray shaking in place. "Oh, um, this is Ray. My friend and our team captain. Ray, this is my father, Topaz."

"Your Enlightened," Ray said, bowing. Topaz laughed and extended his hand, and Ray vigorously shook it.

"Nice to meet you," Topaz laughed. "Now, why don't you guys go ready yourself."

The stands started to fill quickly with each minute passed. Excitement filled Topaz, but worry over his daughter did as well. Topaz knew that Jade was more than capable of winning each battle sent her way, but after the life, she's led, he didn't want to see her in any pain. Topaz took a settling breath as both teams made their way to the stage. Topaz turned as the speakers adjusted, "Hello everyone! Welcome to the first competition of the day," claps and cheers boasted from the stands. "We ask that everyone make their way to their seats and that the players are ready. Today we have Electric Blue Rose featuring players Ray Rayes - Electrokinesis, Alexandrite Caldwell - Hydrokinesis, and Jade Flores - Absorption." Cheers roared from the crowds as he read Jade's name. Topaz watched Jade's eyes widen at the cheers. He smiled at how each time they cheered her name, she remained surprised. "The opposing team, Icy Revelations, features players Jon Crane - Kinetics, Daisy Riveria - Ice, and Blaire Petrya - Manipulation."

The stands were vibrating from the claps and cheers that came from them. Topaz checked, seeing if everyone was in place. "Ladies and Gentlemen. In light of my daughter being a part of this competition, we have something special in place." Jade studied him, and Topaz smiled. "You see, she had concerns that the competition may not seem fair if people felt the need to resist beating the Princess. So, we decided to sweeten the deal. The team that finishes at the top of the entire competition will personally accompany my family to Jade's Kingdom Presentation." Excitement lit up in the faces of her competitors. Topaz and Jade exchanged a smile. "So with that in mind. Let's get this started!"

The bell rang, and instantly he watched as Jade shoved her hands into Alex and Ray's chests. A kinetic armor covered them. Then she dressed with one. He smiled at her cunning moves. Ray smashed his feet into the ground, letting his electricity exit him and cover the terrain. Jade raised Alex and her up, her wind carrying them like a cloud. Jade closed her eyes and maneuvered her hands in ways he had never witnessed. Jade built her wind up, a giant ball forming between her hands, her wind beneath her avoiding their attacks with ease. Alex shot water up, Ray following suit with a crackle of electricity, then Jade captured them, throwing the wind towards the other team like a tornado.

Cheers roared from the crowd as the tornado took out Jon, lowering the opposing team's kinetic barriers. Jade leaped down off the wind, Topaz's heart jerked, worried as she fell, but she shot a green aura below her, vines shooting from the ground. She expanded them, circling Daisy as Daisy attempted to freeze them. Alex formed water droplets, blowing on them, shooting the icicles at Blaire, but she raised her hand and reversed them. Jade cast her aura at him, a kinetic shield in front of him, blocking the attack. With Jade distracted, Daisy broke the vine they held with a sharp ice blade. Alex caught her on a wave. Jade struggled to keep balanced but used the brief moment to raise herself back up on her wind.

Ray smashed his hands into the ground. Electricity cracked the ground as it rushed, hitting Daisy's feet. She shouted before falling, leaving only Blaire against the three of them. Blaire flicked her wrist, Ray and Alex rose, she tossed her hand down, Jade went to cast a barrier, but Blaire grabbed a stone and manipulated it to hit Jade, debilitating her. Ray and Alex crashed down, leaving Jade and Blaire.

Jade spun. It was so unlike anything Topaz had ever witnessed. A whirlwind of wind covered her, spitting out anything Blaire threw at her. Jade leaped backward out of the tornado and sent it rushing to Blaire. Its speed made it impossible to avoid. Blaire stood her ground, holding herself on the terrain as it blew through her. As it passed and vision became clear, Jade had already sent kinetic shards at Blaire. They all hit at once, sending her to the ground. Jade raised her hand but stilled. He noticed her, focused on her breathing, strengthening the barrier around her. Her vines crawled up, tying Blaire to the ground. Blaire was deemed defeated as she could not remove herself from the grasp of the vines.

"Jade Flora is the last player standing, congratulations to Electric Blue Rose for their first victory!" Cheers roared. Topaz smiled and then watched as Jade's aura covered the entire battlefield, her healing covering everyone injured during the battle. When she was released, she was still standing. Simultaneously she showed them how caring she was and the strength that her aura could heal five people at once without a falter after that battle. Had Topaz not witnessed it himself, he would struggle to believe her aura capabilities.

Jade shook hands with the opposing team and then rushed to embrace Ray and Alex. They watched as the scoreboard showed "1 - 0 EBR."

"I'm so proud of you," Topaz told Jade. "I can't believe how strong you've gotten, and so quickly. Jade held his embrace tightly. Topaz's heart warmed, feeling her wrapped around him. After so long, he had given up on the idea of a child. Jade stole his heart the first moment she looked at him all those years ago, and then again tonight. "My heart has never been full until now." Her eyes shone at him. "My life," he said, holding her head against him. The pride of it all was a more incredible feeling than anything he had ever experienced before.
