Jade woke up early that morning, all her focus on meditating. The only way they would beat Edge was for her to challenge him individually. Her grandfather gave her the weapon she needed. Now, it was all up to her. Her team needed her to beat him, but she wasn't sure this was a battle she could win. Jade remained in deep meditation for over an hour before her alarm went off. It was time. She showered and braided her hair before changing into her uniform. Win or lose. She refused to give Edge the satisfaction of going down easy. Ray and Alex waited for her at the Stadium. They were in the team's tent preparing all final plays before being called on stage.
"Well, we made it. These last few months changed my life. You made me believe in myself when making me team captain and the friendship I received in exchange. I wouldn't trade it for the world."
"Neither would we. We've done everything we could've prepared for this battle, and we're leaving with our best on the table", Jade said. Alex nodded in agreement.
They started towards the stage. Jade waved as cheers called out to her. Announcers introduced them as they took their stances. Edge looked at her and smirked. Noticing the glaive, she returned the gesture. Jade glanced at Alex and Ray, who nodded at her. Jade nodded in return, raising her hands to center herself. Taking a deep breath, she got in her starting position.
"Begin!" The announcer signaled, and in an instant, Jade fell to the ground, Alex throwing a giant wall of ice to block the view between the two teams. Jade encased herself in a sturdy barrier, and she crossed her legs and focused. The ice wall shattered, and Alex and Ray went to work on Camilia and Sarah while Edge desperately tried to break through Jade's barrier. Still, her speed in replacing it was beyond what Edge anticipated.
The warmth of her aura started encasing her. She heard Edge's voice start to speak a warning, but before he could finish a word, she shattered her barrier, sending a giant wall of fire toward them. Followed up with a second one in which Alex shot water to create a large amount of steam to block their view. While Edge's team took the damage to the fire wall and worked to clear the steam, Jade, Alex, and Ray got to work. Jade built her tornado, her speed increasing to winds that whistled through the entire room. Alex filled the tornado with ice and Ray with electricity. When Edge's team finally cleared the steam, they had no time to react as the tornado came. As they hoped, reducing both Camilia and Sarah's auras down to unplayable. The battle now consisted of only Edge and Electric Blue Rose.
Fury crossed Edge's eyes. He turned to Alex and Ray to attempt a repeat of the attack from their first battle. Jade reacted before Edge's attack could hit. Jade sent both of them up on a cloud of wind. They balanced up there, sending attack after attack on Edge, while Jade sent it from the floor. Edge blocked the best he could, but the different angles of the attack made it difficult. Jade slammed her hands into the ground, the vines she produced grabbing Edge, his energy-draining as he could not release himself from it. Jade struggled to keep the vines up. Alex froze Edge's arms, allowing Jade a break before her aura diminished. They gave her time to recover as they sent attack after attack on him. Jade closed her eyes, focusing her energy back. She infused her wind with her fire, a move they had not practiced before. She pushed Alex and Ray out of the way and sent it out.
"Did you just combine two powers at once?" Alex asked, but she hadn't heard his question. Her focus was on defeating Edge, and after the tornado hit head-on, she smiled as they were successful. Though, the impact only sent Edge into a fury. Glancing away from her, he snapped his hand, sending both Alex and Ray through the barrier wall as he did her. The announcer deemed the battle between Jade and Edge.
"Let's dance," Jade said, pulling out her glaive. Edge tried to grab control of her, but her speed outmatched him. Jade worked around Edge, landing attack after attack as her grandfather showed her. Edge hadn't prepared for defense against a weapon, and she knew at the moment the impact hit him that she had won. Edge let his power extrude from him, and at that moment, Jade put up a barrier cracking it. Edge collapsed to his knees. Jade pointed the glaive blade down at him and smiled, panting.
"And the winner of this year's Omega 5 Battles is Electric Blue Rose!"
Screams of excitement erupted as the medical team rushed to the stage, tending to all members. Alex and Ray rushed over to her, raising one of her arms. Cheers erupted again, and they took a bow and embraced one another. Jade looked, overseeing Topaz, Amorio, and Craig cheering for her before rushing toward her on the sidelines.
"I'm so proud of you, Jade," Craig hugged her.
"Me too. What a tremendous job you all did," Amorio said, joining in on the embrace with her and Craig. They released as Topaz came over.
"What an incredible improvement in such a short time. You truly are magnificent, and you've made your entire kingdom proud." Her eyes shone as Topaz hugged her.
"Thanks, Dads," she said, resulting in a small chuckle from them.
Jade turned to face Edge and his team. Together, she, Alex, and Ray approached, offering their sportsmanship. Jade and Edge faced each other, his eyes glaring at her. "You gave it your all, Edge," Jade managed. She offered her hand out, but he refused.
"This battle was only the beginning," he whispered before walking away. Jade watched as he left the room, his words unsettling. Though turning back to her friends and family, she let it go.
