Chapter 14

Alex POV

This first week was for instructors know what level the recruits were. We did endurance, strength and strategic intelligence tests. In my opinion, there are five people who managed to stand out in the tests. Me, Ethan, Anya, Dominick and another blonde-haired girl.

Mandatory workouts start early and end in the afternoon. We have two hours to have lunch. After being dismissed, I go run outside for an hour and do weight training next. I take a shower and I read until dawn. I know I have to sleep but sometimes it's impossible not to read another chapter. I've even been trying to get Ethan to read. Hard work but I believe it will ends his prejudice against reading.

Some people have already given up. We don't need dropouts. Facing a war is not easy. It takes cold blood, we know that at any time we can die or see a companion die. We have to be prepared to kill. The enemy is not a human , is a machine that wants to kill us. That's how it works. Romanticizing the idea of war is stupid.

We have to give body and soul in each training, who knows if the development of our ability can be our salvation in a situation of life and death.

One weakness that is inherent in me is the difficulty I have in working in a group. I believe I can do everything better if I do it alone. Either my partners have a way of working similar to mine or everything is fucked up.

I never had the opportunity to minimize this defect, the only person I "worked with" was my brother and we are practically the same in this aspect. The friendships I had never lasted long, in fact, nowadays , I can't say that I have a friend who is for life.

- If you continue like this ,tomorrow you won't be able to move.

- Shut up Ethan, I need to train to get stronger - He rolled his eyes.

 - Do what I tell you and stop, you're bursting your muscles.

- Ok, ok - I sigh

- Then you say that I don't like you - Ethan smiled, a really sincere smile, as I haven't seen in a while - By the way, there's a guy devouring you with his eyes -  I look and saw Flyn.

- He's just a guy that I met a few days ago.

- Tell me everything - he sat on the floor as if he were a child and looked at me intensely.

- I won't tell you anything and it's your turn to lift the weights. C'mon.

- You're so mean - he pouted. Eventually I'll tell him. Just because he's insistent. Nothing else.

We continued training for a few hours. I'm satisfied.Nobody upset my head, except Ethan, but as time goes by, it's easier to deal with him. Apart from the part where he makes jokes about Anya and Dominick ,just to see my irritation. He knows that this subject takes away my patience and still pokes the beast.

Dinner time ~~~~~~~

- So, let me see if I understand. You had sex in our room with that boy who was in the gym ?

- It wasn't in your bed, don't worry.

-D-i-s-g-u-s-t-i-n-g. I already regretted asking. When you have sex with Dominick, please don't tell me anything.

- WTF BRO - I latch my jaw - Only this idea makes me nauseous, I'd rather fuck Anya a thousand times - I barely uttered these words I felt regretful. I knew Ethan would use this against me sooner or later. For my torture , he chose to use it now.

- Sooooo , A-N-Y-A - he smiled evilly

- Next question, if she... - i interrupted his reasoning by throwing a pillow at him.

- Shut up Ethan, I'll say this once again and I hope I don't have to repeat it again. I don't like her, I don't like him, they're two southern brats who don't know what life is. She's even worse because she's a spoiled exhibitionist. I am obliged to tolerate them because we will be war companions. That's all. And now I want silence - I turn on the light of presence and pick up the book on the bedside table.

- I won't say anything else bro. Sleep well - I know it is a lie.
