Chapter 32

Soldiers. Uniforms. Weapons. Discipline. These are the words that describe the environment. As soon as we landed, we were received by 30 soldiers. They greeted and shouted "For the glory of Anura", we immediately repeated the words and a strong gray-haired man, maybe in his 50s, came towards us.

- Colonel Chain, at your disposal.

- Captain Pierce, at your service.

- I see that the capital promotes soldiers to captains quite fast.

- Don't be fooled by my age, sir, I will show my worth and the value of the my recruits.

- That's what we'll see. First of all I want to remind you that we are basically on a border so don't think this will be a joke. Second I don't want to see the girls with hair down and accessories, we are on a base not in a star contest. Third, comply with orders. Fourth, if you have any questions, ask to your superiors. - Yes, sir.

- Very well. Now I want to know the names of the recruits.

We went right after him, while he babbled some things for my brother, I memorized every detail. In an emergency situation it could be useful.

The corridors are wide, so it  facilitate evacuations. On the right side is a generator room and further ahead is an office. The base has 5 buildings and an underground floor. Outside there is an air runway and a garage, where ,probably, the tanks and planes are.

Suddenly a voice speaks on the speakers - "Colonel Chain please address the gunsmith"

- Duty calls, for now you can explore the base. Good luck and see you in training.

- Thank you, sir

Barely he turned his back Isaac said:

- You must be exhausted, do you want to go to the rooms?

Caitlyn was the first to answer - Yes, I can't wait to lie down.

- Ok. Let's take the girls to their aisle and then I'll take recruit Pierce to his aisle. My dorm is upstairs with the other captains. Try to fit in, I know people are older than you, but they are certainly hospitable.

That said, we went to the respective dormitories. At 8:00 P.M. we would have to be in the dining room. Delays are intolerable, from what I understand.
I'm going to take a nap, fortunately the room is all mine. Silence. I don't know what this is since I joined the army. Thanks to Ethan, that weirdo. I miss him. I'm sure I have a fever, that guy gave me his illness.

The food is not bad, but I'm not the best gastronomic taster. I've already eaten rats and pigeons. Either that or hungry. Hard times.

There are a lot of people in this room. I have no idea how many. The tables are organized by patents. Recruits with recruits, major with major, colonel with colonel ... I stayed at the end of the table, Anya was on my left side and Caitlyn was on my right side. Honestly, I was uncomfortable, not for them obviously but for the bunch of assholes, who ate them with their eyes. Haven't they ever seen women?

The situation only got worse throughout dinner. It started with looks then passed comments in a low voice and then, they tried to get the attention of the girls. I looked at the dudes with deadly eyes . They understood the message because the disgusting whispers decreased. When I thought the situation was under control, a blonde boy got up and went behind Anya's chair.

- Hello girls, are you the newbies?

- Yes - Caitlyn replied in a low voice. Please Caitlyn, don't fall into the bullshit of this ass face.

- Do you want to move to our table?

- No and you can leave, we were having a conversation. - Applause for little shit. I tried to contain my smile but I think she saw it.

I got up, grabbed the arm that was on her chin and pushed in the opposite direction.

The boy went to his table with a nice cut on his lip. When Anya puts him on the right place, he will wish hadn't been born.

Caitlyn laughs and Anya gave a beautiful smile. Once again her freckles stand out. Cute.
