Once I arrived at my dorm, I threw myself on the bed. Oh, how much I love the silence. I couldn't stand in that place for much longer , it's so stupid. I need space to think.
I stayed in bed looking at the ceiling , thinking of my mom and sister. I miss them, but I know they are better with me here because the army pays to my family more than I used to earn in a month of work.
Thirty minutes later I decided to leave the bed and open my window. There is only one in my dorm. This place is small, but it can be bigger than my old bedroom. I bent down with my head out, so that I could take some deep breaths. It was dark outside. The wind crushed my cheeks and made my brown hair dance. I looked up at where the stars were. Shining as always.
I was so distracted by the peace that I was feeling that I didn't notice that a scorpion was heading up my hand. At first I thought that I would be bitten, but when I looked carefully , I saw it was from a rare and non aggressive species: "Scorpion Tales".
It was really black and pretty. I took it in my hands just to admire.
- Hey buddy, what are you doing here?
I passed my fingers towards it and asked myself "Why is it with me ?" Maybe making me company.
I stared at the scorpion for a little while and I remembered one thing.
Betrayal, protection , revenge and mystery. Those are the four things that I learned by reading a book about symbology.
Those four words had an instant impact on me. I felt like this creature was meant to be found by me, so I kept it.
Now I'm not the only one who is quiet in this room. I usually prefer being alone but, with this little animal, I feel like we can be each other's company and make both feel we are alone without actually being.
