Chapter 22 | fake friend

(y/n) pov:

Uneasy I look down at my phone and then back to Chan, who gives me a reassuring smile. Hopeful I type in their number. I hold my phone up to my ear and wait every sound making me more anxious, until..
".. this is (l/n). If you want to contact me, try another time."
That's what I thought...
Chan gives me a pitiful smile, before laying his arm around me. I lean against him, as I still look down at my phone.
"It's okay, (y/n). The only thing that matters is Zack and you."
I know he's right, but I can't help and feel hurt by their actions..
"Why don't you call your friends? I'm sure they are worrying", the boy holding me says. He must feel as helpless as I do..
"I don't wanna call Rosa", I speak, cuddling closer to him, "She acted so weird at that Party.."
"Alcohol?"
"Possibly.."
"Only one way to find out.."
"...I guess you're right. But I still want to call Felix first.. "
I am about to call the Australian boy, when Chan interrupts me: "Let's meet up with them. Fresh air will always help."
Unsure I look up at the boy, who's still giving me one of his dorky, cute smiles.
"I don't wanna, but I trust you.."

Me:
Hey, wanna meet up with me and Chan?

Felix:
Of course! You have to tell me what happened and how Zack is

Me:
I was planning to

Felix:
I'll ask Rosa to join us

Me:
Sure^^
At the park in an hour?

Felix:
Yeah, see you then

Unsure I look down at my phone, reading the conversation I just had again. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to invite Rosa.. even though we have been best friends for years, what happened at the party makes me feel unsure..
Helpless I raise my head and look to Chan, who just gives me another reassuring smile, while taking my hand and leading me out of his house.

Together we arrive at the park we want to meet up. I chose this place, since Zack and I loved to enjoy Saturday afternoons here, before he got sick at least..
Hand in hand with Chan we walk over to a empty bench and sit down. Silently we watch as kids run past us, laughing and enjoying playing around. I sigh and let myself fall onto Chans shoulder.
"Are you okay?", He knew the question is dumb, but he asks anyway.
"I guess I've been worst.."
Gently he rest his head on mine and closes his eyes.
"It'll be okay", he whispers, giving me comfort.
"I know.."
A few moments we just sit there silently, spending each other warmth, until two people move in front of us. Both of us look up to find Felix and Roda stand before us. Felix gives me a smile, while Rosa looks down at us with disgust. Immediately I hug Felix, who hugs me back just as fast as I wrapped my arms around him.
"How's Zack?", He asks, still hugging me. All I do is snuggle my face into him, keeping quiet. The Australian boy tightens the hug, spending me comfort, until Rosa seemed to got bored.
"Sooo, why did you want to meet up again?", The girl asks annoyed.
Chan rolls his eyes: "To talk about (y/n)s little brother and spend time together?"
"Right..", Rosa nods before looking down at her phone.

After that the four of us walk through the park, get some ice cream and talk about Zacks condition. Felix is sympathetic as always. Making sure I'm feeling okay, while my girl best friend stays silent most of the time.

"Felix, let's go and boy something to eat", Chan's says, dragging him along. At first I wanted to stop them, but in the end I decided to just stay behind with Rosa and wait with her for their return. We both stay silent. Tension building, which seemingly forces her to speak up.
"So, how is it?", She asks, not looking at me.
"How is what?"
"Stealing someone else's boyfriend?"
Eventually she turns her head to me. Confused I look back: "What are you talking about?"
My friend scuffs: "You know what this is about. Taking Chan from Jade, when they were about to date is such a bitch move.."
The disgust in her voice hurts me, but nonetheless, she's in the wrong.
"I didn't steal anyone from anyone! Chan and I aren't even official!"
"But you like him, don't you?"
I.. I've never admitted it like that. In front of people sure, but back then I was mad.. my cheeks burn up with embarrassed.
"That's what I thought", another voice behind me speaks, making me turn around in suprise.
"Of course it's you..", I snap at her, as Rosa stands up to walk beside Jade.
"You can't even admit what you did", the blond scuffs loudly. After she and Rosa laugh.
What's up with Rosa? At first at that party and now this?
"I can't deal with this right now!", I almost yell, stand up and walk into the direction Felix and Chan walked. But I only got to walk a few steps, when a male voice called for me. I turn around to see Minho walk after me. Silently I stand still, waiting for him to catch up.
"I saw you walking away. Did anything happen?", He gives me a concerned look, causing me to, again, think about everything that had happened the last few weeks. Having to think about everything, makes me break down. Tears begin to flow down my face, my legs trample and eventually give in, causing me to fall to the floor. Immediately Minho kneels down next to me, trying to hold me up.
"Hey hey, it's okay", the boy whispers, giving me a hug. But it was no use at all.
"No, it's not okay! Nothing is okay!", I yell, the tears still running down my face, "My brother might die, our parents left us all by ourselves, I've started to fall for Chan, but all it gave me was heartache and a fucking reputation of being a homewrecker, when I didn't do anything! I did not choose to love him the way I do!"

3rd person pov:

The girl just keeps yelling her pain away, crying like a mad girl, while Minho just kept holding her, allowing her to release all her emotions, as he's by her side.
"If being with Chan hurts you so much, why don't you just leave?", The boy asks, patting her head softly.
"I can't.."
"Why not?"
"Because I love him.."
A pause, when Chans voice interrupts the two.
"And I love you (y/n)."
Shocked the girl looks up and to the direction Chan's voice came from. Her eyes light up as she sees him. Immediately she stand up, escaping Minhos grasp and runs into Chan's arms, making the boy, who's still kneeling on the floor sigh inaudibly.

Did he miss the opportunity to shoot his shot? Probably.

Sweetly the lovebirds hold onto each other, as (y/n) cried her eyes out even more than before. Everything felt unbearable to her. It takes over half an hour for the girl to calm down.
"Do you feel better?", The man holding her asks softly, to which she just shakes her head.
"Where is Rosa?", Felix asks, finally joining the three.
"She's with Jade.."
"Jade was here?", Chan looks concerned, as his love nods.
"Did she harass you again?"
Like before the girl nods, hugging chan tighter.

Together the couple stands next to Zacks bed. The boy is 'sleeping' peacefully, not moving a single muscle. Smiling the girl looks at her little brother, ruffling through his hair softly.
"It'll all be okay", she whispers to herself, reassuring herself.
Another time she takes out her phone and tries to call their parents and again they don't respond to her. It frustrates the little girl, but she is determint to make sure their parents are not able to take Zack back when he has recovered.
While still looking at the sleeping boy, the door opens, revealing Chan.
"Are you okay?", He seems still concerned about (y/n). But she just nods, hugging him.
"I am, thanks to you."
Both smile at each other sweetly.
"Wanna go out?", The boy asks, confusing his girl.
"Like now?"
"Yeah, let's go on a date now! It'll get your mind off of things."
