Chapter 30

Clint'sA slight stab of jealousy flashed through me when I saw Percy hugging that Fred guy.Granted, he was pretty good looking and there was something appealing about him, but I didn't like him.When Fury motioned for him to sit down, he plopped down on the sofa next to Percy and put an arm around her shoulder. I gave him a dirty look, which he didn't seem to notice. I glanced over at Nat. She, too, was eyeing the doctor rather suspiciously. Fred looked around at the group, scrutinizing everyone. When his eyes met mine, he smiled slightly, but I just looked at him icily. When his eyes met Thor's, he grinned all over his face. "Thor, buddy, long time no see. How's it going?" Thor looked at him less pleased. "Fine, thanks Lord Fred." How did they know each other? "How's Sif? Does she still look as hot as when I met her?" Thor looked at him angrily. Being in a room with an angry thunder god can get very uncomfortable, believe me, I speak from experience. "Sif is fine, but may I remind you that she broke your hand when you touched her?" Fred just shrugged. "Well, the ones that give you the hardest time are the ones I like the best." I frowned and looked to Tony. I wonder who was the worse playboy?" How do they know Thor?" Tony looked Fred  up and down." "Well, I'm a very good doctor and obviously not only known on Earth. I would even say I'm the best doctor in the universe." "Fred, if one wanted to encompass your ego, one would need more space than the whole Starktower takes up." I couldn't agree more with Percy on that....As Fred continued to let his blue eyes slide, his gaze met Nat's. He winked at her. "Hey sweetie, do you have any plans today?" I sucked in a sharp breath. Not even Tony had dared to flirt with Natasha. Percy elbowed him firmly in the ribs and looked at him warningly out of green eyes. "Sorry cousin, but I had to do that. You know about my weakness for red haired people." Immediately I looked for similarities between the two, but found nothing aside from good looks.Fury, who had been watching the proceedings from eagle eyes, joined in the conversation as well. "Back to the essentials. How were you able to cure Persephone? Do they belong to Hydra, because only they have the antidote." "Hydra?" He looked to Percy, who just shook her head slightly. "Hydra, you know, the organization that captured your cousin..." "Achsooo. No, I hate Hydra, they hurt my favorite cousin. I'd love to take my chick magnet over there and slap them in the face. I would let them feel the wraath of the mighty-" "Fred the mighty Fred. That's what you wanted to say, right?" Percy gared at Fred who only nodded. "Yeah sure, of the mighty Fred. But Percy forbids us all to help her." At the last sentence, he looked to Percy, but she avoided his gaze."Chick magnet? What do you mean? Why would you think that chicken are thaat intemidating?" Steve looked at him in amazement. "Is that some other technique I don't know about?" Now he looked at Tony. Fred just snorted. "No my dear, my chick magnet has nothing to do with chicken. It is my car. I mean as soon as someone comes by in a red Lamborghini, you have all eyes on you." Red Lamborghini? I guess it couldn't get any worse, but why was there ringing a little bell in my head? That's when it hit me. He had picked Percy up while she was with us. "And how I cured Percy is pretty easy. I did a gastric lavage and found an antidote for whatever she was injected with." I looked at him in surprise. I only knew the bare minimum of medicine, but this sounded plausible. "That sounds smart, can you give me the formula of the antidote?" Bruce now asked." Sorry buddy, but I was afraid they'd get into the wrong hands and I burned them." Bruce looked disappointed to the floor. 

"Do you want to join S.H.I.E.L.D. as a doctor? We'd need some like you." We stared at Fury in surprise. What the heck, I had to absolve years of hard training and now he wanted to employ a complete stranger?! "What the Hades is S.H.I.E.L.D.!" Ah, another similarity between him and Percy,  they both used unique words for swearing. "S.H.I.E.L.D. is an organization that fights evil." "I'm sorry, but I have no interest in being stuck in some lab working for a pirate. I decline." You could just see the relief on Thor's face. I, too, heaved a sigh of relief. This guy was even worse than Tony.

"Oh Percy, before I forget I told you I brought a little present for you. Here it is. Actually, it was Nico's gift. I saved it before your house was burned." He gave Fury an angry look. For a second I could swear I had seen his eyes glowing and turning slightly gold. I was probably the light, still weird."I added a little more to it." He pulled a book from his pocket and handed it to Percy. When she opened it, she froze and quickly closed it again. "Thank you Fred. You don't know how much it means to me to have pictures of them." Her voice sounded resigned, kind of sad.
"There is still room in the back, you can add more pictures I you'd like. But please not of the pirate. He would destroy the whole book with his appearance. Percy laughed and I also had to stifle a grin. Tony looked at Fred. "Finally, someone who thinks he's as ugly as I do. Percy, you better put lots of pictures of me in it." Fred grinned at him. "Also, I'm supposed to give you this from Her- um Hannes. He actually wanted to come, but then got sent on another mission." He handed her a letter. "And this from your dad. Tyson gave it to him, he said your watch should be renewed." Sure enough, he took a watch from his pocket. "Thanks Fred, tell the others thanks too."Fred stood up, apparently the visit was over. "Oh and Percy, don't go to S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ anytime soon. I have a bad feeling about this and I don't feel like sewing you up any more." With those words, he pulled her into his arms. "Take care of yourself kiddo." He let go of her and turned to us. "If anything happens to her, it will be very uncomfortable for you." With those words, he left the tower and was gone. "Interesting cousin you have, Percy." She looked at me from her beautiful green eyes. "Is everyone in your family like that?" "Like what? Arrogant, cocky and attractive? More or less." She picked up her gifts and got up  to leave."Miss Jackson, you will come to HQ tomorrow with Agent Barton, we want to find out more about your physical performance." "Didn't they hear what my cousin said? I'm not supposed to come to HQ." "You will come, no matter what some random doctor says, nothing will happen, our quarters are the best protected house in the world." Not really convinced, Percy nodded and left the living room.
