Chapter 52

Percy:Groaning, I lifted my head slightly only to quickly let it go. What had happened? It all came back to me then. The kiss and that hit on the head. I opened my eyes a little. I saw a pair of really yellow teeth. I jerked back quickly. Now I saw the complete face of John Carter. He was grinning maliciously in my face. I looked around and saw Clint. A huge stone fell from my heart. He had a gash on his head but otherwise looked fit. My eyes met his intense blue eyes. He was looking at me anxiously. I smiled at him as a sign that I was okay. Carter put a hand to my chin and forced me to look at him. "Persephone Jackson, am I right?" How did he know my name? "I've told them many times that they've got us mixed up, haven't I? My name is Lee Blair and this is my girlfriend Kira Harrison. Not Persephone Jackson. I'm afraid you have us confused." Clint said it with so much conviction I almost believed him. Carter, too, had a glimmer of uncertainty in his gaze. He took a stride to the door and banged on it hard. A small shaft opened and he said "bring the boss in, he'll know if it's her." I gave Clint a confused look but he looked back just as perplexed. Who was the boss?I found out when the door opened with a swing and I saw the blond man from my dream in front of me. He looked at me coldly." It's been a long time Percy, you look different." "I'm sorry, but who are you again?." "You don't remember your best friend?" I frowned. "I don't have a best friend." "Come on Percy, give it a rest. Your cover's blown."Unsure, I looked over at Clint and he shrugged. His hand darted to his ear and he pretended to scratch it, however I knew he was pressing the emergency button. "Alright, if our cover is blown, then you too should reveal your true identity." "To you always my dear. I'm Matt. Son of Hermes."

Natasha:The screen flashed red. Immediately I ran towards it in alarm. The others came running too, attracted by the red light. "Clint, what's wrong?" I asked quietly. He didn't answer, instead I heard a Percy's voice. "Alright, if our cover has been blown, then you too should reveal your true identity." Shit, they were captured. "Tony, locate the signal!" "Already on it." Frantically, the millionaire typed away on his phone. I turned back to the screen. "For you always my dear. I'm Matt. Son of Hermes." I heard a strange voice reply. Hermes? Like the Greek god? "That's not true. Matt died five years ago." Percy sounded shocked. "Apparently you're not up to date. Obviously I'm alive." "That can't be. You're dead. I saw the street explode around you." "And you didn't try to put out the fire?" Slightly accusing, but also hurt, he said this. "It was huge. Everyone within twenty metres died." "What the hell happened? We were best friends." "What happened Matt?" She sounded incredulous. "You're asking me what happened?! You betrayed us you ass. You killed my friends and tried to kill our parents.""Isn't that understandable? You treated us like dirt, we were pawns for you. They regularly considered killing us and yet you follow them? You're a fool if you think you mean anything to them." "Don't say that Matt." "Why not? It's true, isn't it? You should have come with me when I offered to take you to him." He sounded desperate. "Accompany you and leave David? I couldn't. I was happy." "I got it! I got the signal." Shouted Tony suddenly. " They're at 29 Charles de Caule Street." I reached for the computer and followed the other to the jet.

Percy:

"Happy? As a nobody? He would have given you all the power you desire. Under his rule, the earth would have flourished." There was a mad flicker in Matt's eyes. I no longer recognised in him the boy who had once meant so much to me." Why did you betray us? " "I was angry. You were always doing things with him. I was jealous. "At those words, a my jaw dropped. I stared at him in horror." You were in love with David? "I laughed out loud.He looked at me in irritation." I was in love with you. " Immediately my laughter died away." You were in love with me? And you thought I'd love you if you killed everyone?" "You are special. You are powerful and the only daughter of Poseidon." I gave him an evil look. I had hoped no one had heard about Hermes. I felt Clint's confused gaze rest on me. "What does he mean by that Percy?" "You didn't tell them? There aren't just Norse gods like Thor and Loki, there are Greek ones like Zeus, Poseidon and all these other idiots. They sometimes have children with humans. That's where demigods come from. Like Percy and me. I'm the son of Hermes and she's the daughter of Poseidon. So she can control... control water. " Clint looked at me hurt." Why didn't you tell us about this? Didn't you trust us? "Guiltily, I looked at the floor." I did. I'm sorry. I wasn't allowed to tell anyone. It's forbidden to talk to mortals about it." Clint turned away from me."Oh poor Percy, you lost that friend too. Don't you realise that it is bad to have contact with the gods? You will lose everyone, because you refuse to leave their  side. Wake upfrom this foolishness." Sadly I looked at him. Maybe he was right, living with gods had taken everything away from me." Where is my mother? Why did you have to get her in all this mess? She is innocent" He laughed harshly." Oh gods Percy, so you still don't get it? Your mother is fine. She's lying on a beach somewhere in Mallorca. We let her think she got a prize. She tried to call you, but we intercepted all the calls." A weight fell off my shoulders. I couldn't believe this effort was all for nothing." So she's not here? " " No ". Then why are we here? Why did you lure us here? ""I want to make you an offer. " Really? Why hadn't he just called? But no, he had to make us travel once around the world..." I'm asking you to join us. Always have. Always will. Stay with me. " I was about to reply when the wall came crashing down. Behind it, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Black Widow appeared to save us.
