Percy:I didn't hear the rest. All I could hear was a rushing in my ears. It couldn't be. He was lying. "Liar!" I interrupted him in a shaky voice. He looked at me and it seemed to me that there was a little pity in his eyes. But why? I wouldn't need pity. "Miss Jackson, why would I lie to you? Your mother wasn't at her house." "Shopping. She was probably just shopping." I tried again. Fury shook his head. It was like I'd been hit on the head. I staggered slightly and braced myself against Thor's shoulder. I could still see Fury continuing to talk to the others, but didn't get any more of it.It was my fault that she was gone now. Everything was my fault. Tears came to my eyes, but I blinked them away. I had to be strong now to save her. I lifted my head and looked at the Direktor from dangerously sparkling eyes. "It's my fault she's gone, so I'm going to get her back!"I straightened up again and looked at Fury. The rest were quiet as mice."You can't." Those damn three words... "Barton, Romanoff. You'll find out who the one with the black hair and brown eyes is. Stark, Banner you'll both be looking for any leads. Rogers, Thor. Your task will be. "I interrupted him. "Why?" I asked him, dazed."Because I'm not an agent?"He looked up and down.."Because you're a little kid. You don't have enough experience."Those words hit me like a slap in the face. I clung to Thor's arm. I felt something growing inside me. I felt anger. Such raging anger and hatred for this man who forbade me to look for my mother. Hatred for those who dared to take her prisoner. I began to tremble and clenched my hands into fists. I felt the water reacting to me. I felt the wind increasing by my rage. The helicarrier began to sway slightly. I gasped and held onto Thor even tighter."Percy, Percy, calm down." He tried to calm me, but it didn't help. I knew only one thing now. I had to get out of here or I could hurt someone. He put his hands on the side of my face. "Breathe Percy, breathe with me." I tried it, but I couldn't."Thor, get me out of here, any way you can. I can't control myself." I hissed into the ear of the god next to me. You could see confusion, then shock and finally determination on his face. He nodded once curtly and grabbed me firmly by the arm before swinging himself out of the window. Maybe I shouldn't have said 'either way.'
Natasha's view:"You don't have enough experience."I saw Percy start to tremble at Fury's words. She clawed her hands in Thor's arm, who frowned slightly in response. She clenched her hands into fists and glared coldly at Fury. My breath caught when I saw the look on her face. Her normally calm green eyes now sparkled with pure hatred. The headmaster backed away slightly and Thor whispered something to her, but it didn't seem to help. She cringed slightly and hissed something in his ear. It was interesting to watch his facial expressions as he did so. At first he looked at her in confusion. Then he turned pale and looked shocked. I had never seen him look so shocked. Not even when the aliens attacked New York. Now he looked at her determinedly and took a step towards the window. I guessed what he was going to do, but not even Thor was that stupid.
He jumped, apparently I was wrong: he was that stupid. We all looked after the two of them quite perplexed. Steve shook his head slightly and looked back at Fury."With all due respect sir, Persephone should help free her mother and catch the culprit. She's an Avenger." The Director looked at him as if expecting something. "Oh cunning Captain Hook. Really smart." Stark had a disgusted expression on his face. Only Bruce looked like he had any idea what Tony meant. "I can assure you that Percy poses no threat to us.""Sir, if you distrust Percy, why did you make her an Avenger?" My partner asked the Director.Tony looked at Fury dismissively."Never heard of the phrase: Keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer, Legolas?" The latter looked at the Director in wonder. "I agree with Steve, she should be allowed to help free her mother. She would probably be the one to look for the most. You should give her a chance.""Can't you hear how you're talking?! She's got you all wrapped around her little finger. Why should I give her a chance? So she can stab us in the back?"
"Well you've already made a lot of bad decisions where Percy is concerned. You kept her prisoner here without even realising you had the wrong one, you burned her house. And now you're about to make another mistake." Clint raised his voice at him. Fury frowned and thought. "Maybe you're right, but she shouldn't go alone. Barton, you'll go with her to look for that man with the black hair. Romanoff, you'll be looking for the blond one, Stark, Banner you'll be looking everywhere with cameras and stuff and I'll have a look at Collman. But before she's allowed to go, she has to pass the test." Satisfied, I nodded. Clint opened his mouth to say something, but Fury glared at him. "Either test or she can't go." Quickly Clint closed his mouth again.
Percy's view:Any normal person would have screamed at a fall from a lofty height. But I just tried not to think about how many insects we were probably taking with us. Once on the ground, we landed softly. We were right on the beach, a field next to us and no other people.I was still shaking and felt anger inside me, even though it had gotten better. Thor pulled me into his arms and held me tight. I tensed slightly and tears lay down my cheek. I hated feeling helpless.Suddenly a hand came to rest on my shoulder. I looked around and gazed into my father's worried eyes. A spark of hope flickered inside me. He had come to help me save my mother."Will you help me dad?" I asked him softly. Sadly, he looked at me. The glimmer of hope in my heart extinguished faster than it had come.He shook his head. "I'm sorry, Percy. We gods are forbidden to help you, no matter how much we'd like to." I felt myself getting angry again. The wind whipped around and around and the waves grew larger. "WHY? I HAVE BEEN YOUR PAWN FOR YEARS! I HAVE DONE SO MUCH FOR YOU. NOW I NEED YOUR HELP AND YOU WON'T HELP?!" I yelled at my father. Thor put a hand on my shoulder reassuringly, but I shook it off. I stood up in front of my father who looked at me sadly. "I'm sorry Percy, but it is forbidden. We are not allowed to help the demigod, not in such big things. If you ever need a dress or your arrow needs to fly straight, generally for small things that don't change the world, we are allowed to help. But you have to do that on your own." With these words he put a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sure you'll manage. I know you will get her back. Good luck." He disappeared in a cloud of mist. Angrily, I stared after him. I did so much for them and this was their thank you?! The storm grew even stronger and the earth began to shake. The temperature dropped and the sea swelled. I kept on shivering. I didn't notice Thor speaking soothingly to me. I didn't notice the hurricane getting bigger and darker. I didn't notice cracks forming in the earth. All I noticed was the hatred inside me. Hatred of Fury for forbidding me to help, hatred of the gods for not helping me. Hate for pretty much everything in the world. Suddenly I felt a brief pain at the back of my head before everything went black.
When I woke up, I blinked at the sun. I was still on the beach, but no longer on land but in the water. I was lying in the water, my head on Thor's lap, who was sitting next to me. I looked up at him. He was looking out to sea, lost in thought. There was nothing left of the anger. I was only exhausted and sad. I sat up, attracting Thor's attention. He examined me thoroughly out of blue eyes. "What happened?" I croaked. "You were no longer in control of your powers. I tried to calm you down, but it didn't work. In the end, I say no other way but to knock you unconscious. I'm sorry." It looked away ashamed. "Thanks Thor." Surprised, it looked up. "I shouldn't have overreacted like that. I could have hurt someone with my outburst. So thank you." "It was impressive to see your powers. I've only heard of them before, but they're incredible." Thor changed the subject rapturously. I blushed slightly. "Thank you, something like that doesn't normally happen to me, but it was just too much for me." "Oh no, please don't cry again." Thor exclaimed in horror, but it was too late. Awkwardly he took me in his arms and stroked my back. I could tell that it was a bit much for him. It did no one any good if I sank into self-pity. So I wiped away my tears and stood up. Compared to Thor, I was completely dry. I pulled him up and put a hand on his upper arm. Immediately he was dry too. "We should go back to the others, they're probably worried. No sooner said than done. A short time later we were back in Fury's office. When the Avengers saw us, they looked at us partly confused and partly worried. "We have found a solution. You will go on a mission with Agent Barton. You will track the black-haired one and find out something about him." I glanced at Clint, who was smiling at me in satisfaction. I smiled back. I couldn't believe I was allowed to go after all. But there had to be a catch somewhere....
