JAXON WAS ON HIS WAY to the room where the council meeting was taking place to put a final decision whether Landon has to go or stay in the Salvatore School when he saw Hope walking in the same direction as him.
"Who voted for you?" He asked the tribrid who shrugged, "nobody had to. I'm the only one of my kind just like you so..." She trailed off to which he nodded in response as he opened the door and they both got inside. "Sorry, we're late."
"Hold up," Kaleb said, confusion overtaking his features, "who voted for them?"
"We ran unopposed," he replied, pulling out a chair before plopping down as Hope did the same. Just then, Emma lifted a balance and held it in the air with magic in the middle of the table. "We're here to discuss if Landon should be allowed to stay at the school. My vote, on behalf of the lower school is to err on the side of inclusion. We exist to help kids like him," Emma then placed a rock on a side of the balance, "which is what I'm going to do now. I have a search party out, looking for Jed. As you've all seen, violence leads to more violence. If you'll excuse me." She then turned around and walked out of the room.
"All right," Kaleb leaned forward in his seat, "who wants to start?"
"Landon has to go." Hope was quick to spoke making the others look at her in surprise. Their eyes flickered to Jaxon who grabbed a rock and placed it on the other side of the balance, "yep. Finally something we agree on."
"I never thought I'll say this but..." Kaleb paused, "Hope's right. Humans refuse to make a place for us in their world."
Jaxon rolled his eyes, "maybe it's because you wanna suck them dry?"
Kaleb shot him a look while the others couldn't help but agree with what the half-god said. "Anyway..." Kaleb cleared his throat, bringing back the attention on him, "we start letting them in, it's only a matter of time before they take this place from us too." The vampire grabbed a rock and placed it on the same side Jaxon did, "Landon goes."
"Landon is my brother," Rafael spoke up, "He's the only reason I'm alive. He can't go back to human life knowing that magic and dragons exist. We took his whole crappy life from him. Be awful selfish of us not to give him one to replace it." With those being said, Rafael placed a rock next to Emma's, opting for Landon's stay. "That's two-two."
"Doesn't matter how much we want him to stay," Hope said, "Look what one mad wolf did to him. Earlier, I asked him if he felt safe here. He said 'yes'. He was lying. This place is dangerous for him, and even he knows it."
"I'll protect him," Rafael said quickly and certain of himself. Jaxon scoffed, "and where were you an hour ago?" At Rafael's silence, he continued, "that's the point. This is a school for supernatural and Landon. . . well there's absolutely nothing supernatural about that guy. It's clear that he doesn't belong here. He's always gonna feel out of place and be the subject of anger for those teenagers with anger management issues— like Jed. He's not going to be able to defend himself and you're not going to be there with him twenty-four1seven. If he stays, he won't last long. And when he dies. . ." Jaxon cocked a brow, "it's going to be on you."
"He's right. But if he stays, it's our responsibility to protect him," Hope added to Jaxon's words which earned her a scoff from the demigod but he said nothing as she continued, "can we honestly say we believe every one of us can handle that kind of responsibility?"
"I can—" Rafael was cut off by Jaxon who shot him a look, "don't even say that you'll be able to do that. You can't even protect yourself." Rafael pursed his lips shut at that. They all watched as Hope grabbed a rock and placed it in the 'Landon has to go' side.
"Three to two." Kaleb spoke, looking at Josie, "if there was to be an equal then the decision is gonna be upto Doctor Saltzman. So, Josie. . ."
"Since Landon walked through those doors, my brother got hurt while my sister, my father and I have almost died." Josie said to which Rafael scoff as she continued, "we don't really know what Landon is, so we can't really say if we know if he's dangerous or not." She looked at Rafael, "Raf, this isn't about who's friends with who or who you like. This school is family, and I am not putting my family in danger again." And then Josie put her rock in the same spot as Jaxon, Kaleb and Hope did. Landon had to go.
Rafael stood up, banging on the table in anger making Hope and Jaxon stand up at well. The werewolf was getting angry, low growls escaped him as he glared at the others.
"Raf, stop!" Josie exclaimed, all looking at the werewolf who was about to lose it. Jaxon approached him and stared at him in the eyes. His glowing red while Rafael's grew yellow as Jaxon ordered him to calm down.
The power radiating from Jaxon was too much for Rafael to even think of going against his orders so Rafael's wolf calmed down instantly, submitting to one who is actually in charge.
Once Rafael calmed down, he let out a humourless chuckle, looking at the others, "you know what? I'm done with y'all."
Rafael looked at them, waiting for them to say something. Jaxon furrowed his brows then raised his hand and wiggled his fingers, waving at him mockingly. "Off you go then, dear boy."
Rafael then walked out angrily, realising that the demigod did not give two shits about him or his friend and he has made it clear countless times now.
