Mariano Headcannons

Sees Mirabel as a little sister (I have no evidence for this except for he's the only one who in a geniunely concerned tone asks her if everything's okay during the proposal dinner)

Adding to that, I headcannon that when Mirabel went out to town by herself shortly after her ceremony, she was being made fun of and before Dolores could get there to stop them, he got there and stopped them for her. That incident made Dolores aware of him and the feelings just grew.

Now he still keeps an eye on Mirabel every time she's in town, just in case.

Was promised to Isabela when he was sixteen.

Didn't know Isabela that well, but always wanted to be a husband and father so he was sure  true love would come for the both of them

Has no resentment to Isabela

Isabela wingmans him with Dolores

Gives Antonio piggy back rides

Favorite flower is orchids

I see a lot of funny fan art where he's bad at being romantic because he's not the brightest, but I don't agree that he'd be bad at flirting, he writes poetry after all...

He works on his poetry at night because he knew it wasn't seen as a manly thing and he was the most "handsome and perfect" man in the village

Kind of like Isabela who had an image, only not to that extreme

Gets lost in Casita and when he does he just sits and waits for someone, usually Dolores or Mirabel, to find him and lead him back to where he needs to be.

Loves little kids

Knows how to mend clothes, not make clothes

Bad at lying

Knows sign language  for days when everything is just too much for Dolores

His favorite nickname for Dolores is Princesa

Even after the magic comes back his nose heals slightly crookedly

Always stumbles into drama and doesn't really get the cue that he should leave until someone pulls him away from it.

Dolores loves it when he reads aloud to her because he does it at just the right volume.
