clever as the devil, and twice as pretty.
It is a known fact that when you lie, you do it for a reason - but Nina was lying unhinged and she loved it. she loved the way they left the tip of her tongue. She loved the adrenaline she felt whenever she'...

"DO YOU HAVE EVERYTHING PACKED?" Nikaia is leaning against the doorway, watching her daughter operate with a soft look of fondness on her face. It was the day before the trip - god knows why Nina was only packing her ridiculous amount of clothes now, but she was trying her best.
"Yup," Nina popped the P, shutting her ridiculously expensive travel suitcase. In all honesty, she was excited for the trip - very - because one, this was probably the last time she'd be having a normal summer since and Rhodey talked; and she was planning to reveal her identity now that she was seventeen to avoid charges from her criminal days. Two, she hasn't been in Europe ever since she lived in England, and it would be better for her to see it in rose tinted glasses, unlike the last time she's been in there. Three, she'd be spending time with Betty and Alaska, probably room with one of them too, and she was fully ready to sneak out at night under the teacher's noses.
Four, Peter. Easy as that. No further explanations needed.
"I'm going to miss you," Nikaia mumbled, walking over towards her daughter to give her a giant hug, left hand softly cradling her hair. "Your father told me to let you enjoy the trip so I'm banned from teleporting to you, but the moment it gets too tough I'm appearing right at your side."
"I'm only disappearing for a bit, mom." Nina laughs, heart warming at how clingy her mother was being. "Isn't a less than a month practically nothing for the two of you?"
"You were gone for five years and it felt longer than those 7,000 years I've been alive," The woman mumbles, hugging her closer, as if she'd disappear if she let go. "I don't think I can handle a few weeks. Are you sure you haven't forgotten anything?"
Her mother backs up and takes away the warmth from Nina. The girl shakes her head, "Yeah. Pretty sure I haven't missed anything."
Nikaia smirks, grabbing something out of her pocket. The girl then sees the victory ring she's gifted shining brightly on her palm, accompanied by the cheeky smirk on her mother's face.
"Almost forgot this," the woman throws the ring mid air, testing her reflexes, a smile forming on her face once Nina instinctively catches the piece of jewelry. "Always bring the ring with you."
Internally, the girl scolds herself for almost forgetting to wear it once again. She was leaving for the next morning, but still, the last time she forgot to wear it, she was thrown into the most traumatic period of her life - Nina wasn't one to believe superstitions, but if someone as severe as that happened once, it could always happen again.
"By the way, your dad and I are going out for dinner," the subject is completely changed, with Nina deciding to put on the ring now before she forgets it again. "Do you want anything? Takeout?"
"Sure," Nina shrugs, before her eyes widen, "Actually, can I get—"
"Number seven, no pickles, smushed sandwich and cherry coke and gummy bears?"
