Altagracia's was filled with tears as she drove at high speed back to the main city. She remembered her grandparents in law trying to stop her.

She gripped the handgun harder. Behind her tears, a burning anger nibbled at her nerves as she had only one objective which was to make him pay.

An hour earlier,

Altagracia was mortified by her actions of the night before. She would definitely dig a hole and hide in it forever. She remembered how naughty she was. She even commented on the taste of his... Ugh.

"No wonder he wants to let me drink more often" She buried her face in the pillow and screamed in embarrassment. She couldn't believe how shameless she was. Amelia was napping while her grandparents were busy watching TV downstairs.

She needed to shift her train of thought from the events of last night, at least until he was back to tease her on the events. She could already feel the heat creeping to her cheeks. She took her phone and dialed her mother's number who didn't pick. She tried twice and then decided to call doctor Ed whom she knew had a big crush on her mother.

"Hello doctor Ed" She said with a wide grin the later explained why she was calling.

"I'm going to her room right away. I was even about to check on her.

Now you have a good excuse She mused with a grin.

They kept on chatting while he walked and he entered. He was about to speak when she interrupted him, recognising her husband's voice. What was he doing in her mother's room.

...But the bastard always put you, Altagracia and you business on a poker table, betting huge sum of money for a night with you or your daughter or your business. That was why everything you did always failed.

Devon manipulated Altagracia into marrying me, which was the best thing he could do both for me and her, selling her off for barely 15 millions dollars. He even tried to kill you, before the wedding, scared you will spill the beans and tell her his father had never cared about her.

And as if it was not sufficient, the bastard was fearless and shameless enough to trade my wife for a night to a drug dealer.

Her heart broke in a thousand of pieces. She didn't hear all of it but she had gotten the important chunks. She had discovered her father didn't care about them and thought he sold her off because of his debt. Proof was that none of her other family members aside from Ethan tried to even know about her state, as if she could die and they wouldn't even care. She had cursed at herself several times for being naive and he probably didn't even owe that much to the Hales.

But knowing it was just for a few millions and he even tried to kill his mother after lying he was going to pay her bill, and over a childish thing on top of that made her crazy. She didn't even want to know to how many men she was promised a nightstand with. It would have been much more better if he had forgotten about them. She was filled with anger and grief when she stole Elijah's Beretta, climbed into Edmund's car and rode away, despite the protestations of Edmund and Mayra. They desperately tried to stop her but she was numb to their voices.

Her mother tried to reach her but she didn't answer. Same for Ethan, Edmund and Elijah. Seems like the news travelled fast. She chuckled. Elijah kept on calling, insisting and she had no other choice than to pick it. He will know anyways. She picked Elijah's call on the last ring and answered, tears blurring her vision.

"When we're you going to tell me?" She asked and he sighed.

"Soon" Which was the biggest lie he had ever told her.

"Do you take me for a fool?" She asked and he breath deep, trying to find a way to convince her to go back.

"What are you going to do now?" He asked.

"Go confront him, make him admit, anything to get justice! And maybe do what he wanted to do to my mother" She hollered furiously wiping her tears.

"If you do that Altagracia, you will go to prison, is that what you want?"

"You don't understand. That...man had abandoned my mother and I, for years, not caring about us, and even going to the extreme of selling us. What did we do to merit this. You can't understand my pain Elijah. Every single day, after school, I'll sit  at our window, hoping to see my father's silhouette walking towards our home, like he had promised. I had been treated as a bastard, for years, I had seen my mother been shunned by the society, but I still hoped he will come, to defend us like he ought to do, mierda. And when he finally came, it was to sell me off for good, and making sure I arrived the destination this time around. How could he do this? He must be laughing at us, bathing in the luxury of my stupid sacrifice..."

"And he will pay, you just have to be patient..."

"I've ran out of patience, Elijah. Sob. I have been patient all my life–sob–, trying my best to supress what–sob– I felt so as not to worry my mother, all the bullying, the pain,–sob–, the harassment, and knowing it was my own father the reason behind this, or at least most of it, you can't ask me to be logical, you just CAN'T!" She cried and Barbara who happened to hear everything from Elijah's phone started crying.

She hadn't noticed that behind the always smiling face of her daughter, the strong woman her little girl had grown into was such a fragile heart. If only she had been more observant, if only she had not assumed that her little liked the scenery each time she sat at the window.

Seeing that it troubled Barbara as well, he stood up and walked towards the corridor while Ed hastily went to calm down Barbara, feeling guilty as well. But there was no one much more guilty than Elijah.

Despite the fact she had not mentioned it, he could see how his words could have affected her. All the insults, he had even slapped her for fuck sake's! And now he didn't even know enough about her to try and coax her.

She is trying to make this work Elijah, why don't you give it a chance?

What she was looking for in this marriage wasn't his money nor his pretty face. She was looking for someone who would see her as whom she was, someone to whom she could tell everything, someone she hug and cry to her heart's content, she was looking for security, and he had failed to give her all that.

"Altagracia, I may not feel what you feel right now, but I am conscious of your pain, and I want to help you. This was the worse way of finding about the truth and I should have told you. Everything I did from the beginning of our marriage till now was stupid and childish, but I want to help you, I need to help you..."

"Sniff. Nothing you'll say right now Elijah will dissuade me from ending this once and for all. I'm sorry, but the pain is just too much for me to ignore it. I know it is reckless, but... forgive me" She said and threw the phone out the window, speeding to Los Angeles.
