Epilogue

A year later,

Altagracia placed a bouquet of flowers on a grave,

E. A. Hales.

He was great of heart.

She crouched to it's level and slowly brushed off the death leaves from the gravestone and sighed with a smile plastered on her face.

"I wanted to thank you again for all you have done for me. You gave me an opportunity to love and to be loved in return and even though I never told you I hated you at the very beginning, despite all the discussions we had together. Now you guess it's quite the opposite" She chuckled and wiped her wet eyes. "Amelia couldn't come. She refused to be there, to see your body descend into the ground and see yourself being covered by the soil... We also had twins. Two boys, one named after you." She stayed quiet for a good moment before smiling and leaving.

She had done her round of visits.

Her father died the same night Orlando shot both Elijah and himself, and she visited him as well. She didn't have much to tell him, just that she remarried after the drama, though it took her time to forget. Her smile grew larger as she saw a black car waiting for her outside.

She immediately climbed in the passenger seat and kissed the stubble on her husband's face. He smiled and kissed her cheek.

"What happened to your hair?" She asked him, seeing it wasn't black but dark brown.

"This is my real hair color, now shall we go before you start making fun of me?" He said and she giggled.

"You stayed longer than I thought" He said glancing at her and she chuckled.

"I visited your grandfather as well. Did you know that you both had the same initials? It's... weird."

"Edmund Alphonso Hales and Elijah Adam Hales... Maybe my father did it on purpose. People might think I am dead. Time to precise his name on that gravestone" He said and she chuckled.

They had decided to remarry since the first marriage was out of convenience and they needed to reformulate their vows.
Orlando was death and a bad memory to be forgotten, he bled to death because he didn't have his clotting factor in time. Their twins, Alphonse and Alaric were the spitting images of their father, except for their baby blue eyes. What he answered was "What do you want? The Hales genes are too strong, even for you sweetheart"

Amelia adored her great grandfather and had refused to come to his burial. Also, she was the best big sister ever. She read stories to her little brothers in clumsy English, though they doubted they could understand. They would surely grown fond of her later on.

Edmund died of a heart attack during his sleep, and Mayra, even though she was always smiling, was grief stricken by the death of her other half but was still very happy to have her great grandchildren with her.

After another half a year of chasing after each other, Steffen finally managed to tie Maya down and they were now on honeymoon. Elijah had always complained how the guy refused to answer his calls(which was exactly what he did when they were on honeymoon as well) but deep down, he was very happy for his best friend.

Her mother Barbara, is working hard and is still a little shy around doctor Ed, while Yaya is on retirement but comes from time to time to take care of the twins and Amelia. Cheyenne was accepted back into the family and Ethan finally tried dating after making Parker Global Corporation a giant in Florida as promised. The girl is called Savannah and is super cute. With just his two girlfriends, she knew Ethan preferred petite girls.

On the less bright side, Tania, has completely shut down. Just a shadow of herself and it has been more than a year that she hadn't uttered a single sound. Elijah spared no efforts into finding a treatment that would be successful with her, to make her at least open up.

Elijah grabbed her hand and kissed the back as if he knew what she was thinking about. She smiled.

Even though life wasn't a hundred percent perfect, she was happy with the outcome and even if there were still fights ahead, she knew she wouldn't be alone this time and she would always have people to lean on, and to whom she could tell everything, especially the man who sat next to her.

"What? Wanna eat me already?" He asked mischievously and she shook her head.

"I was just wondering how you managed to hide your real hair color from me for two years now. It makes me wonder if I really know everything about you" She narrowed her eyes and he gulped softly.

"What do you wanna know?" He asked and she faked a thoughtful expression.

"Who was your first?" She asked and he frowned.

"Sweetheart..." He warned.

"What?!" She asked in a mixture of curious and annoyed.

"We already talked about this. No discussions about exes" He said seriously.

"C'mon..." He shook his head and they argued teasingly as the car drove away.
