"You called for me Mrs. Hales?" She asked and Altagracia nodded at the sit facing her.

"I saw you were pretty distracted today" Altagracia said with a straight face, and Maya started panicking.

"I... I'm sorry, it's just..."

"Breathe Maya, I have no intention of chastising you. In fact I am rather curious" She cleared her throat and gone was her professionalism. She smiled excitedly and bending towards Maya like she intended to say a secret.

"Are you and Steffen a thing?" Maya blushed to the roots of her hair. She was obviously older than Altagracia, but she felt like a kid who had been caught in the act of breaking a law. She cleared her throat. This sudden change meant they were in the friendship time and they weren't boss and employee, but two young women, about to gossip about the other's life and this time, it was hers they were going to talk about.

"I don't really know. I mean, he has been very vocal on the fact that he likes me and I can't deny I kind of like him too, a lot, but it just can't work. I wasn't meant to be in a relationship and he merits better than me" She said, looking at her fingers.

"Why do you say such a thing Maya?" Altagracia felt suddenly sad for her only friend and crouched next to her.

"I... Nothing, nevermind. I just think it can't work" She said and Altagracia didn't push her. Instead, she straightened and walked towards her sit.

"I really appreciate your work. The company worked as though I wasn't there" And they were back to a subject in which Maya was much more comfortable. She fixed her glasses and smiled.

"Thank you Mrs. Hales."

"There is nothing else scheduled, so I think you should have the rest of your day, go and relax a little" Altagracia said with a smile and Maya nodded thanking her, leaving her to her paperwork.

In reality, she too was distracted. Her life wasn't that easy before but she found herself envying the calm. What was she saying? Of course though her life was kind of chaotic with an egoistical father and one hell of a marriage before but she would trade what she had right now for nothing. Her mother was totally healed, she had grandparents, Yaya, Amelia, Maya, occasionally Steffen. She even had a brother now!

She had a job, she loved, people who respected her not because if her pretty face, but because of what she could do, Orlando, was a bad memory who will never come back to haunt her again and...

And she had Elijah. A loving husband. A partner. A friend. A lover.

She blushed reminiscing their heated kisses and their moments as she was anticipating other deep moments. Few months ago, she would have thought it scandalous but now, she just thought she was a little shameless and horny.

"Thinking about me baby?" A deep husky voice whispered very close to her ear and she jumped startled. The person in question burst out laughing and she immediately narrowed her eyes on him, annoyed.

"That's childish Ethan" She said with a deep frown and he sat on her desk. "Who let you in?"

"Really, you didn't see me for a couple if months and that's all you have to tell me?" He said, faking a pout and she smiled at him flicking his nose.

"How do you manage to be always so joyful you idiot, it's... unnerving " she said and he smiled teasingly.

"I thought you'll get more cheerful now that everything is working quite well with your marriage and you know... you got laid" He said and she blushed furiously, throwing him of her desk.

"You dirty minded"

"Said the woman I found with red cheeks and parted mouth, unresponsive to any stimulus, except..."
