Chapter 6. Sacrifice

Altagracia sat in Ethan's car, since the latter decided to drive her to a gym hall he liked.

"I'm sure you'll love it" He said and she smiled and they soon walked into the building. It was spacious, luminous and seemed very well equipped. Soon, a guy approached and caught Ethan in an accolade. He then turned towards Altagracia to let out a wolf whistle.

"Who is this beauty?" He asked scanning Altagracia from head to toe while Ethan instinctively shielded her from his gaze.

"Look at my sister like that again and I'll gauge out your eyes." He said with a domineering aura and she too was taken aback, then she figured it was normal for someone managing the Floridian branch. Thinking about that, she remembered her conversation with her father the night before.

"Roy, Altagracia, Altagracia, Roy" He introduced briefly and dived into the next subject the conversation. "The reason I brought her was to make sure no guy will take the liberty of ogling her while she's working, not even you. I'll be absent for about two months, and if you ever feel like you will try anything with her, just remember what happened to Seth" He said and Roy tensed up, while Altagracia frowned.

"Who is Seth? "

"Just some random guy, don't worry" Ethan brushed it off nonchalantly and placed his hand in the small of her back before walking towards the different sections of the gym. They exercised a little bit and he made the huge error of asking her to punch him.

He knelt on the floor in front of her holding his stomach and his eyes were bloodshot.

"Are you okay? " She asked and he whined.

"This hurts like crazy. Why didn't you tell me you knew how to defend yourself?"

"You didn't ask. Sorry, I'm really sorry " She said but giggled a little nonetheless.

After spending a solid three hours in the gym and showering, they left and climbed inside the car.

"Since you hurt me, I'll have to ask you three questions"

"No" She answered simply an he chuckled.

"Don't you feel a little guilty for hurting me. It left a mark you know" He said she bit her lip staring at him for a few seconds before sighing.

"One question"

"Three"

"Two and it's my final"

"Okay then, during your past relationships, who broke up with the other. In fact, just tell me who has wronged you"

"You sound like an overly protective big brother. It's... weird"

"Answer it"

"Never been in a relationship, never done anything related to relationships don't ask me more, it already embarrassing enough" She said and he stared at her in total disbelief.

She was damn gorgeous, and had a body that could make any man incur damnation for that sake and yet, she's actually pure and innocent. Incredible.

"I'm proud of you Yelena, really" He said with a little smile and she felt so touched that she was on the verge of tearing up, when he added. "If guys start pestering you, just tell me, I've got a super uppercut " He said and he giggled.

"And your phone call from yesterday evening? " He asked and she tensed up.

"I-it's a ghost from my past" She answered and he understood she will not say anything more.

"I also wanted to tell you not to let people guilt trip you, it may be fatal understood? "

"Yes captain" She said with a faked serious face and he chuckled and drove them back. Their father immediately called a family meeting when he saw both of them entering.

He explained the same things he said to Altagracia the day before and Ethan pondered about it, racking his brain in every direction to find no solution. Karen furrowed her brows in confusion, Kenneth was surprised and Olivia was panicked because she thought she wouldn't be able to buy jewelries and flaunt their riches to others.

"Dad, you have to do something. Ethan you always have bright solutions" Olivia begged and Devon sighed.

"The only solution is an arranged marriage, Olivia, with the wealthy scion of Edmund Hales." He said and Ethan widened his eyes.

"Dad, that guy is extremely ruthless and scheming, if we send Olivia there, we are doomed, because excuse me to say this but she not exactly the kind of woman he will want or any man will want" Ethan said and and Karen glared at him while Olivia was doing the mental calculations before saying.

"I'll marry him, I'll sacrifice for the family" She said but her mother glared at her.

"You'll sacrifice for his bank account. You don't understand the situation we are in right, the guy hates materialistic persons despite your pretty face. He might even be violent with you" Said Ethan and that made a shiver run down Altagracia's spine, but she was determined.

"I'll do it, I'll marry him Ethan" She said and silence fell in the hall.

"It's a total and complete no. You're not going there, I won't allow it. You're what? 22, he is thirty for God sake. That guy will make your life a living hell, he will assume you accepted the deal for his money"

"I technically did Ethan"

"No you didn't. You want to prove you're worthy of our confidence I get it, but you don't have to do that, we will find a solution" He said and she chuckled sadly.

"Were will we get 80 millions before tomorrow ? Even if I sell all my organs, I won't be able to get such a sum. I'm touched by your concern Ethan, really, but I'm an adult and I've made up my mind" She said as a matter of fact and Ethan was forced to admit defeat.

"Dear, are you sure you want to do that, I mean we can still try and borrow from other people, I'm sure..." Karen started but was cut off by Devon.

"Other debts? Think about it Karen. If I do this, first, there is no way we'll get the total by tomorrow morning and second, I only make an overall year total wage of fifteen millions, including what we use to survive. Our fixed assets are worth less than fifty millions and our liquid are 1.5 each, meaning 7.5 millions." He felt that if he told he had credited Altagracia with 1.5 millions, he will show how sincere he was. "I wished I had another way out and no one is more chagrined than me by this situation. I had just reunited with my daughter after so many years and...this is happening." He said and even let out a tear before standing up to walk to his room, leaving everyone in a whirlwind of emotions.
