A day has passed since Drail arrived. I've learned a few things about him. First: He eats a lot, a lot lot. It took half of my salary to feed him. Second: He kinda smells. Probably just because he hasn't took a bath in a while. He hasn't complained about it, nor gave a shit about it. I, on the other hand, complained a lot. I take Drail as an extremely patient guy who'll snap harder than Thanos when pushed to his breaking point.
"I should take a bath..." Drail murmured, looking at himself on the mirror.
"DAMN RIGHT YOU SHOULD, YOU SMELL LIKE SHIT" I yelled, coming in. "Anyways, do you need clothes? I don't have anything that'll fit an 8 feet guy like you."
"No need, I'll just reuse my current clothes." He said, I did not like that idea at all.
"No way. Dude, that outfit of yours probably smells worse than you." I said, staying far away from him as he walks out of the room. I followed him though, just to make sure he doesn't go outside. Just as I feared, he went out of my house. He then made some magic circle, just like yesterday which startled me.
"Dude! The hell are you doing!?" I frantically looked around, seeing if anyone saw him.
"I'm finding a lake, why do you keep asking questions?"
"Because you're not natural. This, is not natural! Get back in, come on." I pushed him back in the house. He proceeded to do the magic thing again inside the house.
"Won't be as effective as outside but this'll do..." He closed his eyes for a second, opened them again and smiled lightly. "There's a lake near here, do you want to join me for a bath?" I blushed a lot, what the hell is he thinking!?
"U-uh, sure..?" I spoke without thinking, joining a bath with the tall wolf dude!? What was I thinking...
"Sure, grab my paw" He held it in front of me, I shyly took it and everything around me went white. With Drail being the only thing in sight. Suddenly, it violently flashed into a lake. Like it suddenly blurred into existence.
"Here we are, mind if I go first?" Drail asked. He was smiling softly, something he's never done.
"You're smiling. Yo-you're smiling" I said, completely surprised because he was always annoyed, scowling or frowning. He chuckled.
"I suppose I give off that impression. It wouldn't hurt to relax from time to time, no?" He took of his shirt and pants. Third thing I learned about him: He wears a loincloth for underwear. He ran to the lake and dove, going vey far. I was afraid he'd go too far and get lost but he surfaced quite near me.
"Come join me! The water's the perfect temperature." He called. I blushed a lot then took off my shirt and shyly followed, I has my arms crossed the whole time, just because he was way more fit than me and that made me a little shy. I was waist-deep in the water when something grabbed me and lifted me up, I yelped and saw that it was Drail, I am now sitting on Drail's back. His fur was so fluffy even when wet.
"Woah... your fur's so fluffy..." I kept caressing his fur.
"It's... not a reason that you should.. touch it like that." He sounded almost flustered, who knew he was such a softie.
"For an assassin, you're quite soft. You sure you've been at it for hundreds of years?" I asked.
"My work life and personal life are different. It is as if I become a different person when I am given a target." His tone was way colder. Murderous, even.
"P-point made, Drail. Point made... Can you let me down now?" We continued swimming around and stuff, it was actually really fun, normally I wouldn't like swimming. But the big anthropomorphic wolf changes everything.
We sat on the rock as the sun sets, casting a golden shine on the waters. Drail looked over the horizon with a peculiar look on his face. It was sadness, a nostalgic look, even.
"Got something on your mind?" I asked, he shook his head as if caught in a trance and looked at me.
"Oh, just remembering stuff..." He sounded half-hearted.
"Uh, what's wrong?" Do you know what my weakness is when it comes to getting a friend? Having to comfort them. Listening to their problems, sure but trying to help them? That's way out of my jurisdiction... Sadly, this is the situation I'm apparently in right now.
Drail sighed. "Well, I've met countless acquaintances back in my world. But I've never really had a long-term friend. I usually had my work-mindset for almost all the time, but..." He sighed again. "... Maybe the personal half of me wanted to have at least one long-term friend."
"Well, I don't actually have any friends so... I can relate, sorta?" I smiled and looked at the sun, it was almost gone. "Anyways, we should get back now. I hope you know how to go back."
"Of course I do, but we're both still wet." He said, standing up. He shook his body from head to feet. "Shaking can only do so much..."
"Oh, I have towels back home. Let's take a shower and get dried properly." We both smiled at each other and I looked away, embarrassed. If you think I've fallen for him, I haven't. I'm just that socially awkward. And he's too cool for me. I'm totally fine with that, just having him here is a field day for me. Let's just hope nothing goes wrong.
