Chapter 19

Elena's POV
Katherine, Klaus and I take Klaus' car. We are all silent on the way there. I look out the window and wonder where Victoria is right now. Wherever she is, I hope that she's at least safe. Worry eats away at me. I look over at Katherine who seems jumpy. I put my hand on her arm, this startles her. "Hey. Are you alright?" She sighs and then nods yes. "Don't worry Katherine. We're going to find her." She nods at this. I look out the window as the countryside slips by.

Eventually the fields turn into buildings and we pass a sign that says "Welcome to New Orleans. The city of music." We're here.

Klaus guides the car down many streets and I have no idea where we're going. I still need to work on my vampire skills. We pull up to a big building in the middle of other buildings. This one seems different than all the rest. Wiser, sadder. "We're here" Klaus says. We get out of the car. "Thank you for helping us Klaus" I say as we follow him to the door. "No worries love. Just helping out." I smile at that. Klaus is so different than he used to be. I guess that's what happens when you're happy. We follow Klaus inside and into large courtyard. "Wow" Katherine says. "How'd you get this in here?" Klaus smirks. "I have my ways" I roll my eyes at this. "So where's the witch that you said would help us?" I ask. "Right this way" We follow him to the second floor. Past a dining room and through a corridor. He stops at the last door on the right and knocks lightly. I can hear a human heart beating inside. The door opens. "What do you want Klaus?" She asks annoyed. Apparently Klaus asks for her assistance often. Klaus smiles. "Nice to see you too Davina. I have some friends here who seem to need your help." He gestures to Katherine and I. I see the same look of shock that I usually do when I'm with Katherine or Victoria. Just the thought of her hurts. I really hope that Davina will help us.

Victoria's POV
"So?" I look over at Sarah who's been looking out the plane window for a while. I just told her that vampires are real and that I'm one. At first she doesn't say anything. Without looking at me she says " What about Stefan? Is he- a vampire too? Yeah." I interrupt her. She turns pale and I can hear her heart beating 100 miles an hour. "But, why are you telling me this?" She finally has the courage to look at me with those dark eyes that are filled with terror. I laugh. "Oh you know it's just a joke!" I say winking. "I don't understand." "Ugh you humans are so slow sometimes honestly!" I throw my hands up in the air exasperated. "I'm telling you this Sarah because I need you to help me." She looks even more frightened. "With what?" She says finally. "With my plan of course!" A flight attendant walks by and stops in front of us. "Everything all right here?" She asks. She sees Sarah's face and opens her mouth. Before she can say anything I say "Don't sorry we're fine here. Forget what just happened and leave." I compel her. Her eyes glaze over for a second and then she walks off without a word. Sarah's staring at me with her mouth open. "Close your mouth. Trying to let the flies in?" I grin as she snaps her mouth shut. "How did you do that?" She asks in a small voice. "One of the privileges of being a vampire." I say as I inspect my nails. " it's called compulsion. Basically I can make people do whatever I want!" I look up at her. "But that's not the point. You my dear are going to be my bargaining chip." I stroke her hair. She jerks away from me. "B-bargaining chip? F-or what?" "Well you see. My best friend recently died and this immortal witch named Silas was going to bring her back but then somebody killed him and so I turned off my humanity blah blah blah and my annoying sister and doppelgänger are hunting me down as we speak because they want me to turn it back on but I don't want to. Here's where you come in. When they finally catch up to us I'm going to give them a proposition. They let me live in peace without humanity and I promise not to kill anyone but if they don't agree or intercede then I'm going to kill you!" I say brightly. "Get it now?" She looks on the verge of having a heart attack. Poor thing. I rest my hand on her arm. "But don't worry. Considering the way my sister is I'll have my way and you'll still be breathing. Sarah opens her mouth to say something but thinks otherwise. Her eyes dart over to the aisle and she gets up as fast as she can. She runs up the aisle and into the captains area where the door shuts behind her. I get up and follow her laughing slightly. Oh this is gonna be fun.
