What I had only heard of in myths...

(M) M POV:

Gänger's expression became all the more horrified as she looked for any signs of life from Dopple. Sabre couldn't have really ended her... right? No- there's no way. And yet...

"...What... What did you do..." I heard her say in a small voice.

"I- I..." Sabre stammered. It seemed to me that he was unsure of what had happened himself.

Gänger stood up, her voice furious. "WHAT DID YOU DO?! HOW COULD YOU?! YOU- YOU KILLED HER!!!"

There was an undeniable pain that edged every part of her tone. I could practically feel her anger in the air, its tension so thick I swear I could have cut it with my sword. Lightning flashed, an overwhelming power resonating from Gänger. Her appearance quickly changed to a Steve that I remember learning about from the Red Leader. When he was still alive... I shook my head, finding my train of thought once more. There was no doubt about it. She now looked like Dream Steve, and her voice seemed to match the description of it, too.

"She was innocent!! All she ever wanted was to help people!!"

My heart had a sharp pain, and I looked down at Dopple once more. Surely she hadn't met the same fate as my people... To be lost to a power much greater than ours. I tugged on Elite's sleeve to get his attention, and when he looked at me, there was an understanding in his gaze. Together, we checked Dopple for any sign of life. But it was in vain. It was too late to help her.

Gänger's appearance changed once more, now someone that very few of my people had known personally. She looked like Colle, a knowledgeable and brave Red Steve adventurer of the past. And when she spoke again, her voice sounded just like I had been told that he'd sounded like.

"And you didn't even give her a chance!! All you did was provoke her, hurt her, and now you've ended her!!"

This time, her appearance didn't change slowly. She flickered unsteadily between different appearances, most of which I'd heard of only in myths and legends that I was taught. The ones that Leader taught me. I felt another sharp pain in my heart.

"What- what are you...?" Sabre asked, his voice lined with a fear I knew all too well.

Gänger stopped changing, now the most horrible thing she could ever be. She was the very thing that had thrown the First Hero off. The very thing that caused the beginning of the darkness itself. She now looked like Dread Steve, and a chill went up my spine as her now deep and menacing voice said, "You're about to find out."

That was all put to a stop when movement caught my gaze, and a hand reached out to stop her. A wave of shock overwhelmed me as I saw who it was, and when they spoke, I could sense Gänger's hardened heart thawing.

"Stop..." the soft voice had said.
