(F) Dopple POV:
"It all started a few weeks ago when we all met at the Yellow Steve Village. I-"
"Woah, woah, woah. Sorry to stop you short, but don't you mean earlier today? Like, you know, around dawn?" Elite asked, immediately cutting me off.
"Uhh, no. I mean a few weeks ago. When we met."
"Elite's right. We met you earlier this morning, just before dawn," M said quietly.
"What?" This seemed wrong. "What do you mean, 'earlier today'? I've been gone for weeks!" I felt myself beginning to panic. No, there's no way! It couldn't have been earlier today- I'm sure of it! All that time I spent in the Original World- I know time is different in each reality, but it's not that different! It goes at the same speed- or at least similar speeds- throughout the multiverse! It just starts at different times!
M and Elite both raised an eyebrow, clearly confused. I sighed. "Whatever. We can talk about that later. My point is, just after we met, when I jumped out in front of Sabre, I ended up getting sent somewhere else- to an entirely different reality. It-"
I was blinded by a light, then found myself surrounded by an endless sky. I was standing on what seemed like an invisible floor, billowing clouds all around me. Suddenly, signs seemed to pop out of nowhere, floating around me. A shiver went down my spine as I read one, realizing they all said the same thing: "Remember". They began to spin around me in a circle, and out of nowhere a voice whispered to me, "Remember..." Over and over again, the voice echoed the same word, the signs still spinning around me. "Remember... Remember... Remember..."
Remember what? What the heck is going on here? The whole thing felt super trippy. Then, the invisible floor seemed to disappear, and I started falling. Clouds zipped past me at an alarmingly fast speed, and I suddenly saw the ground. Terror rippled through me as it grew closer. Closer. Closer!
"Dopple!" a voice called to me, tugging me back to reality. M had his hands on my shoulders, staring me down with a hard, yet concerned, look. He must have immediately noticed that I was back in reality, because he quickly pulled his hands away, sighing with relief.
"Woah. That was... really trippy," I murmured, thinking back to the strange floating signs. Remember...
Elite raised an eyebrow, then immediately lowered it. "You zoned out there for a while. You weren't even responding to your name. Is everything... good?"
I hesitated, not really sure what the answer was myself. But I didn't have any time to think about it. Because just then, someone opened the front door and stepped inside.
