Marinette had always considered herself to be a blessed girl, after all, she had it all didn't she? A wonderful family, loving friends, a crush who cared, a superhero partner.. everything.

Until Lila came, taking everything but her parents.

Even then, Marinette considered herself lucky, a"sure, her classmates hated her, but after all, she had her parents, and Tikki, and Chloe, Luka and Kagami...

Then there had been the class trip to Gotham.
Marinette had been really lucky there. After all, she got a new boyfriend, his family and friends practically adopted her, and Tikki and Chloe, Luka, and Kagami still cared.

Marinette had always known she wasn't going to live long.

From the time she was a child, she was fully aware that expecting to live to 20 would be far overestimating her lifespan.

She'd fear being erased, until she was old enough to try and be remembered and do the things she loved.

Hence why she became a designer while she was still a teenager, hence why she lived and loved as she could, never being short on telling them she loved them.

Which led her to the situation she was in.

"Marinette.. are you alright?" Damian asked her, worried.

Marinette was fine, she was.
Sure, she was fine,

Yes, she was kneeling on the kitchen floor, and yes her arm was on the counter, and her head was throbbing

She waited another half second for her vision to clear, before she stood up.

"Damian dear! I'm doing just fine, and you?"

"Marinette..." Marinette interrupted what she was sure was going to be a stream of worried words,

"Ah, I must be going, I have a outfit to finish after all!" She announced as she brushed past.

Damian caught her wrist.

"Marinette. Please. I'm concerned. This has been happing a lot lately.." he pleaded with her, and Marinette sighed.

"Are you sure?" Marinette asked, thoroughly unprepared

"Without," Damian paused to consider, "a doubt."

"Ok"

——

The family had gathered in the living room.

Marinette took a deep breath to prepare herself,

"I'm.. dying" she paused, and then sighed, "it's terminal. I've always known, I'm not even supposed to make it to my 18th birthday."

"Marinette- you're sixteen!! Why didn't you tell us!"

"No.. no.. that can't be!"

"If you'd told us sooner,, maybe we can still do something!"

"You're going to be fine!"

"EVERYBODY SHUT UP!" Marinette yelled, annoyed.

A shocked silence followed.

Marinette waited a bit, collecting herself, before continuing.

"Look, guys.. stop, I already know. I can't be saved. It's too late for that."

All in all, Marinette had led a pretty lucky life.

And her grave was inscripted with this,
