After that last night in Queenstown, Clara's words were at the back of my head. I didn't know what to make of it. Baka naman masiyado lang niya binigyan ng meaning lahat. Xavi is really genuinely nice to everyone. Ganon lang naman 'yon. He's very nice and caring to everyone.
But I also felt a little awkward because of all the things Clara said so I was not really looking forward to the Sunday lunch I already agreed to. I was thinking of backing out but his parents were really looking forward to this since it would also be a celebration for Xavi's soon-to-happen graduation.
The doorbell was ringing. It was still relatively early and I wasn't expecting Xavi until a little later. I took a peek at the peep hole and just saw the back of a guy.
"Surprise!" someone said when I opened the door.
I raised a brow at him. "What brings you here?"
Si Luigi pala.
"To surprise you and congratulate you for this semester!" he handed me the flower arrangement he was holding. "And probably see you before you head back to Manila?"
"I don't believe you." I chuckled and got the flowers. He got me my favorites. It was an arrangement of peonies, Ecuadorian roses, and hydrangeas.
He just shrugged his shoulders and went inside my condo.
I placed the flower arrangement on top of the table. "Do you want anything?"
"Don't worry about me, cuz. I know my way around."
That was true. He had been here many times kaya alam na niya where to get things if he wanted anything. I left him in the living room while he was chilling on the sofa.
"Kayla! The doorbell's ringing!" Luigi called me.
"Please open it! I'm just fixing something here in the kitchen."
"Hi. Is Kayla there?" I heard someone ask as I was heading to the living room.
"Hey! Sorry, I'm not yet ready." I tentatively said. I bit my lower lip and played with it. "Come in."
"It's fine. It's still early." he happily smiled at me.
I saw him glance at the box of flowers on the table and at Luigi. His forehead was creased.
"Xavi, this is Luigi. My cousin. Luigi, this is Xavi."
Xavi smiled. "Hi!" he greeted him cheerfully and offered his hand.
"Hi, man! How are you?" Luigi shook his hand.
I silently chuckled. Feeling close talaga 'tong si Luigi.
"I'm great. How about you?" Xavi replied and smiled.
"Good. Good." Luigi responded.
"Luigi, you need to get out of my unit soon. I'm heading out for lunch." I told him as I was fixing the gift box and put a ribbon on it.
Xavi followed me to the dining table and handed me a Dior and a Tiffany paperbag. "By the way, these are for you."
I furrowed my brows. "What are these for?"
He shrugged. "Congratulations and thank you?"
"For?" I arched a brow at him.
"For doing a good job this semester. The Tiffany one is from my mom. She asked me to give it to you and tell you that it's just a small thank you gift from her."
"My grades aren't even out yet. And thank you for what?"
"Advance then? I know you aced the sem," he replied then shrugged.
