Chapter Twenty Four: Epilogue Part Two

After a week of relaxation Slade alone had returned to the Citadel to inform the Council of his missions success, to which as he enters the council chambers he is met once again all the members yet is saddened to see Kel's seat lie empty as Master Kristina speaks. Slade Bolin it is good to see you the news has long reached us, the Master Templar is dead no doubt by your  hands your mission was a success well done, she says to which Slade then bows as Master Bumi continues. Yes your mission is indeed a success as we had no doubts however its clear to us that there is something, that is indeed troubling you please speak Master Bolin, he said to which Slade then approached them. Over the next hour Slade had told the Council of all that had transpired on their trip, as well as what Germane had told him to which as he finishes there is a silence before Master Mason then speaks. After what you've endured there is no questioning your certainty Master Bolin, What this Templar has told you is indeed most troubling news the very aspect of this, so called "Great Work" could jeopardize the very peace that we've worked hard to preserve, ever more the fight continues which brings us to another subject before we continue. As Mason says this they then all speak to themselves to which they all look at Slade before Member Kristina, then steps down from her seat and approaches Slade as she then speaks. Before we are to continue there is a matter we need to address Albus Kel's death has left a hole in all our hearts and no doubt yours, however as addressed in our letter to you he always saw you as more then fitting, to take his place to lead the Order and we do not question it Slade Bolin the Grandmaster Assassin's seat is yours should you accept it. As Kristina says this Slade then looks around as all of the council members are nodding in approval, to which after hesitating he then glances up at the middle chair. Deep down he was unsure if was ready to accept the mantle but then his thoughts, soon returned to Jade and the others and all they've faced to which he soon inhales and exhales. To which he then starts to slowly walk up the stairs he never thought he would ever step on, and takes his seat at the head of the Assassin Order as he then speaks. Thank you all I hereby accept the mantle of Grandmaster Assassin we have much work to do in the years to come, however I have a few first degrees John Cross and Ashley Crawford, they were assigned to me and have more then proven their loyalty it is here I make them both Master Assassins, Slade had said to which the members all nodded as he then continues. We will indeed have much to do this "Great Work" will not come to pass I will see to it but evermore I won't be alone, Jade my wife to be will be made acting Grandmistriss in the event of my absence do any of you deny our union or my decision? As Slade says this the council at first surprised at Slade revealing his betrothal to Jade, but soon are encouraging of his choice as member Shaw then speaks. Not at all Kel knew that you both would eventually end up together we didn't question him, and we will not question you Grandmaster though if you mind my saying we knew you two harbored feelings its about time, he said to which Slade then smiled as he spoke again. I don't mind at all however I do wish to spend some time away so its to that which this meeting has concluded, Now let us away for I do say I have an engagement to plan he said before leaving the chamber alongside the other masters.

A year had passed since Slade had become the new Grandmaster Assassin and since he and Jade had been married, to which as he was rushing through the halls of Bolin Manor he then opens the doors to his bedroom. As he slowly opens them he finds Jade by the window with a baby bundled in her arms, to which as he slowly approaches she sees him and kisses him as she speaks. Arthur you came just in time the doctor left its a healthy baby girl just look at her isn't she beautiful?, come on don't be shy come see your daughter my love, she said to which Slade had then sat on the bed. As he did Jade then joined him to which she then carefully handed the baby to him though he hesitated, at first he then had taken the girl into his arms to which she soon opened her eyes and gazed at him. Slade had nearly been brought to tears as he had never seen such a beautiful thing in his life, to which he soon held her up as she began to laugh as he then turned to his wife. Jade she's prefect after all this time we are parents after so long we are now a proper family, He said to which Jade then had taken the girl before speaking. Yes we are a family and me ha! I'm a mother, though I haven't chosen a name for her however I was thinking we could name her Gwendoline. As Jade said this Slade then had held his finger out to which the baby had soon grabbed it, to which he soon smiled before kissing the child and replying to her. Yes I think that will be the perfect name for our daughter the perfect name for the perfect little girl yes Gwen she shall be, Jade my love I don't want her to live the life we've lived the one of an Assassin she deserves better, Slade had said to which Jade had remained silent before speaking. Yes Arthur you are right she deserves to have the chances that we never had in our lives to be able to live as a normal girl, even if that means that we have to hide who we truly are from her to keep her safe. Jade then says this as Slade then looks at his daughter before he then nods in agreement as she soon kisses him, before taking Gwen into the next room to feed her as he looks on as a happy father. Later that night as Jade and Gwen are asleep Slade is wide awake in his office as he is in deep thought, for is both extremely happy at his wife's healthy birth but is also unsure of the future for his daughter. For he knows that when the time comes she will have two choices that in being either, to live a normal life as a normal girl or that she would ultimately follow in his footsteps to becoming an Assassin. With these thoughts in his mind he then finds himself at ease as he then walks into the bedroom, to find his wife and daughter resting peacefully as he speaks to himself. She will be the best of us no matter what she chooses when the time comes it will be her choice, one day Gwen you will do amazing things I know you will I believe that, he said before walking in to kiss his daughter before leaving the room. Returning to his desk Slade then takes a seat as Naga soon enters, and rests herself at his feet to which after petting her on the head, he then opens his desk drawer and retrieves a semi worn journal. With that Slade Bolin the new Grandmaster of the Assassin Order, then grabs a pencil and his smoking pipe as he lights it and then begins to write though what will be a secret that only he knows.....for now.
