Chapter Seven : Good As New

Jade had awoken to find Slade missing from bed as she then turned to see him getting dressed in his robes as he replied to her bewildered look. Good morning Jade, he said as he put his sword on his belt to which she approached him. I trust you're feeling better you sure do look it she said hugging him from behind, as he happily looks over his shoulder. I'll tell you later but for the moment I feel great he said before turning around and kissing her to which she replies to him. So what's the plan? Jade asked before starting to get dressed herself, as Slade then walked over to the window to take a look outside at the fresh snow on the ground before replying to her. Well I'd figure that I better thank the people here for saving my life,  and then get a layout of this place it'll still be a bit for I can travel he said with a grin. Okay sounds like a plan Jade said with a wide grin before slipping on here boots and leaving with him. The two walked into the main room to find Marci sitting at the desk writing papers as she took a glance at him before speaking. Ah welcome back to the world of the living mister she said with a slight smirk. Slade then  looked with confusion to which Jade spoke. Oh right you don't know this is Marci she is the doctor that saved you she said smiling at Marci as she replied. I wouldn't expect you to know me after all you were half dead bleeding out on my operating table when we met Marci said laughing, to which Slade then bowed respectfully before replying. Well I thank you madam I indeed owe you one for sure I hope I wasn't too much trouble, he replied with a laugh as he shook her hand. No trouble at all in fact you didn't stir once during the operation, you're one tough guy, So do you have a name? or do I call you the wounded stranger she laughed before Slade spoke. Oh forgive me where are my manners I'm Slade Bolin but you can call me Arthur, he said with a grin as she continued. Slade huh? well if the same to you I like Arthur better, so Mister Bolin you're up for little walk huh Marci replied as he continued. Yes I thought I'd go out and get some fresh air, and maybe met some of the people here he replied. Well meeting people shouldn't be hard here after all you two are the talk of the town she replied with a laugh as Jade replied to her statement. What do you mean? she asked confused at her words. Well its obvious isn't it two strangers arrive in Pinewatch one's wounded and the other one panicked something was amiss, but listen to me ramble on you two go on and meet some of the townsfolk she replied laughing. Throughout the day the two had walked over the little town meeting new people and enjoying the wilderness and quiet which Slade really needed. However soon it had gotten dark for the sun was setting as they walked silently together before talking. This town is so full of life full of happiness Jade said to which Slade had replied agreeing with her. Yes Its as if they are untouched by time so preserved in this bubble of a good life, they might not even know that a war is going on all they might know is peace and freedom he said looking around as Jade continued. Do you think we'll ever be free from this war from the Templars?, she asked as they walked to which he then sighs. In time we can hope even if our actions fail to stop the Templars it will for sure delay them, they underestimate us and that will be their downfall Slade said as they continued walking. As the last remnants of the sun vanished over the horizon, it begun to get very cold as the night had began to which Jade started shivering which Slade noticed. Are you cold? he asked Jade who was now shaking a bit as she replied. Yeah a little bit but I'll be fine its just the cold here is intense sometimes I'm still not quite used to it she said as he smirked. Slade then motioned for her to hug him to which she gladly jumped into his arms. As he hugged her he could feel Jade starting to relax more as he then spoke again. Remember when we first met in Venice? he asked Jade who was humming to herself. How could I forget you saved my life she said resting her head on his chest before kissing him on the cheek as he continued. The Inn should be close lets get you into some warmth he said to which Jade nodded. As they walked they spoke about little things like what they'd do once they reached their goal, and what would they accomplish from that as Jade spoke to him. Arthur were you upset about coming out of hiding like this?, she asked to which he sighed before replying to her. Actually I wasn't I missed it all from the blade in my sheath to the robes on my back, besides if I hadn't then we would have never had this chance to be together he replied to which Jade had then kissed him as she spoke again. Seems this is the life we must live the life of running , hiding in the shadows the life of an Assassin huh? she replied before continuing to walk. The two had finally made it to the inn tired and sore from the days events and very tired so they had went straight to sleep. Though Slade had awoken in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, He looked at his pocket watch which read two thirty as he then wiped the sweat from his brow. He glanced over his shoulder to see Jade still sound asleep to which he got up trying not to wake her and went outside. The weather had warmed a bit and the night was still bright by the light of the moon. He then leaned on the rail and glanced at the still lake which faced the quiet woods, where he had been the day before as he even wondered about the horse he had lost to the ambush. Arthur are you okay? a voice called from behind him. He turned around to see Jade standing in the doorway wrapped in the bed sheet with a concerned look on her face as he replied softy to her. I didn't mean to wake you love he said as she approached to check on him. I'm fine are you okay though? she replied joining him outside to which Slade returned his gaze to the lake. Its nothing I'll be okay he said to which Jade had then looked worried. She clearly knew something was wrong so she waited a brief second more before speaking to him. Tell me please let me help you beloved, she replied before he sat down and sighed. I had the dream again the one from before he said to which Jade sat down beside him as she then glanced at him. Tell me about your dream she said holding his hands in hers. It was more detailed this time I saw ice and snow though its meaning is still  unclear to me he replied. Maybe they are trying to tell you something I learned that sometimes, dreams hide a deeper meaning to us when we're awake she replied to which he then closed his eyes. Ice and snow what's there to tell about that he replied to which Jade got up. I don't know love but its late come back to bed we have a big trip ahead of us in the morning. She said before leaning down to kiss him as she then wrapped the sheet more around her as he spoke again. Alright I'll be there in a few he replied to which Jade nodded before returning to bed. Ice and snow what does that mean Slade wondered to himself before he felt the allure of sleepiness. Taking one last glance at the lake he returned to the room and lying next to Jade fell fast asleep.
