Chapter Nine : The Chase Through Paris

It seemed as though time slowed as the two pursued the stranger through the crowded streets of Paris. Jade rounded the corner in Slade's car  tires screeching with every sharp turn she made. She drove until they came into view ,the stranger with Slade right behind him running at a very fast pace. The man then preceded to scale a small building which briefly bewildered Slade as he continued running. He then saw that Jade was near so he signaled her to drive closer to which he launched himself from the hood. As he jumped from the car and began climbing the building the man lost his footing falling to the ground, as he then hopped to his feet and continued running into a mall. The two ran through and out the mall with Jade right behind them. She knew Paris well from her prior trips there and judging by the direction, they were running she knew exactly where they were heading right to the Eiffel Tower. They crossed the bridge and jumped over the security gates before reaching the tower itself. The man reached the elevator first and entered it laughing at Slade. As he then jumped on the side as the elevator rose to the top of the tower. Jade stopped the car and looked up to see Slade hanging on to the very side of the elevator as it climbed higher and higher until he was out of sight. After reaching the top the two had reached a dead end to which they halted running. Give up its over you've trapped yourself like a dog ,Slade said blocking the exit to which the man turned to face him as he then spoke. A cornered dog will still fight Assassin, the man said as he turned to face Slade who drew his sword. You would have me run all over Paris if not for trapping yourself Slade replied back as the man continued. If I know one thing its that you Assassins would never fight an unarmed opponent, its not in your code not in your creed  surely you would know that the man had sneered. If you were a real Assassin you will lay down your arms and face me hand to hand the man continued. Slade knew he was right so he dropped his sword and cast it aside as he then replied back to him. Now we're both unarmed but even without my blade I can still take you Slade said rolling up his sleeves. Jade had finally reached the top to find the man and Slade circling each other, to which the man then rushed at him as Slade dodged before delivering a punch to the man's side. He then yelped in pain as he grabbed Slade by the tail of his coat to which he punched him right in the jaw. Jade watched as they fought each blow getting harder and harder until Slade kneed the man in the face effectively ending the fight. The man now with a broken and bloody nose fell to the ground as Slade kicked him in the stomach causing him to groan as Slade rushed over to him. Now are you going to talk or am I going to have to break something else he yelled as he then kicked him again. Okay I'll talk I'll tell you anything just don't hit me anymore the man pleaded to which Slade grabbed him by the collar. First you will tell me who you are than why you were following us, and you better tell the truth or I'll start breaking bones. The man then remained silent to which Slade broke his finger causing him to yell in pain. Yuri my name is Yuri and I was sent to kill you that's why I was following you damn bastard you broke my finger he replied back. Sent to kill me by who?! and you better hurry up Slade said looking at him. Yuri didn't reply so he then grabbed his arm and began twisting it as he started to grow tired of the man's games. The Templars! they were the ones who sent me yeah it was them Yuri replied back through howls of pain. Why! tell me why!  Slade demanded tightening his grip as Yuri continued. If I tell you that they'll kill me Yuri replied trying to break free of Slade's grip. And what makes you think that I won't  you follow and attack me and my partner and I want answers now!, he said regaining his grip tight on Yuri's arm now drawing his hidden blade on his throat. Yuri didn't respond to which Slade angered began dragging him to the railing and leaning him over to which Yuri began to plead. You will answer me or you will go over do you understand me now?! Slade yelled to which Yuri nodded before talking. The Templars they heard you were back and they wanted to get rid of you, I was just doing my job they payed me payed big to take you out Yuri replied back to which Slade's face tensed up. He took a glance at Jade who stood speechless at the elevator before looking back to Yuri before speaking again. The only reason why I'm not going to throw your sorry pathetic ass off of this tower is because I have a message, for your Masters and you will deliver it or I will come for you Slade said throwing him back on the platform. Yeah sure a message I'll tell em alright Yuri said panting as Slade continued. Tell your masters that I'm coming for them , all of them and that they won't stay hidden for very long he said picking his sword back up. Yuri nodded in agreement before picking himself up and leaving for the elevator as he sighed before picking up his sword. Are you okay? Jade said approaching Slade who was now leaning over the rail exhausted from the struggle as he replied to her. He lied to me he wasn't sent by the Templars he was sent by bounty hunters he said to which Jade stepped closer. What? bounty hunters? how do you know they were bounty hunters? she asked puzzled. His clothes were not of Templar origin Slade replied back. He then stood there quietly stroking his beard to which Jade noticing he was thinking of something spoke. What are you thinking about Arthur? I know that look on your face all to well she said to which he replied. What if perhaps the Templars do truly know of our presence here it could jeopardize our search, for the Grand Templar we must be vigilant now surely they'll try harder to conceal themselves and no doubt our friend will warn them. Slade said this still pondering the realization of the events that transpired, as Jade walked over and hugged him to which she replied back. Whatever path you choose I'll follow you to the end of the line she said kissing him as he spoke again. I'll need some time to think and mediate on this but for now lets get down from here, and back to the apartment I arranged for us to stay in he said kissing her on the forehead. With that both Slade and Jade made for the elevator to determine their next course of action.
