Chapter Eight : Back On Track

Slade had completely recovered from his injuries and in within a day he and Jade had made off for Paris. They had rode a long way sharing one horse until they got to a stable very close to the Paris border as he spoke finally breaking the long silence. My car should be here soon I had it delivered here he said before dismounting the horse. Awe I quite enjoyed our ride together so do we go to the Assassin Embassy? Jade asked following behind. Not exactly ever since The Order stopped delivering goods over here, they might not take too kindly to us best be alert he replied to which Jade nodded. The conversation was soon halted by the sound of an approaching car to which as expected Slade's car came rounding the corner, and stopped a mere inch from them as Jade jumped in surprise. Don't hit us Arthur jeez! Jade said backing away quickly to which he merely grinned at her reaction. Again as Slade opened the door Jade was not surprised to yet again see the appearance of no driver as he spoke again. Well lets get to it were almost there Slade said getting followed by Jade. They had drove a good two miles as Slade had then glanced over at Jade before speaking to her again. How's your French? he asked Jade who was looking at her data-pad before she looked at him. Its a little rusty but I think we will manage not to get killed or look stupid she replied before returning her gaze to her data-pad screen. They decided to walk the rest of the way as to not arouse suspicion while leaving the car nearby. Though as they walked Jade noticed someone was following them as she moved closer to Slade. Arthur we're being followed Jade said whispering into his ear causing him to look back. Glancing back Slade realized that Jade was right he saw a man in about the same height as him, wearing a long coat and a sword sheathed on his waist as he turned back to face her. Stay close to me we'll lure him into this alley than ambush him Slade said quickening their pace. They then reached the alley first and had perched themselves on a fire escape, and waited for the man who followed them in as expected. The man had rounded the corner and as he walked under them they moved. With Slade giving the signal the two vaulted over the rail and took him by surprise the man surprised quickly unsheathed his sword, to which Slade spoke as he smirked a bit at the man's reaction. I take it were not going to play nice very well if it's a fight you want come on then he said drawing his sword. The two clashed blades with Jade watching from a distance as she was amazed at Slade's skills every blow the man dealt barely scratching him. To her it seemed as though he was dancing with the man with such precision and well timed strokes. Though Slade fed up with the fight broke the man's defenses which caused him to tumble to the ground. Talk or I'll send you to the void who sent you? he said with the tip of his blade on the man's throat. The man resisted using his sword as a shield to which Slade then sighed before delivering a blow that shattered the man's sword. What how?! the man yelled as he looked at his broken weapon in shock. You're a fool to challenge me my sword is made of metal not from his earth, it has no equal Slade said returning the blade to the man's direction. Now I ask again who sent you the Templar's he yelled gripping his sword tighter. He then looked out to Jade who yelled as a burst of smoke filled the air around them. The attacker had activated a smoke bomb in which to escape In the confusion Slade however, was already up to his feet after a coughing fit to which he spoke again. You're not going anywhere until I get answers now! you stay right where you are Slade demanded. The man glanced at Jade still on the ground coughing before looking at Slade and beginning to back away. Don't you even move Slade yelled his voice becoming stern as Jade resumed coughing. The man took this as a distraction as he had turned and began running at full speed to which Slade then ran over to Jade. Its okay I'm fine go get him he's getting away Jade said in between coughs. He then helped her up and nodded before running around the corner in pursuit. Jade catching her breath called Slade's car and hopped in to join the chase she knew he would need her help, so she didn't waste time starting up his car looking down the street she saw the man running with Slade right behind him.
